Hi
We need to buy a roof box for our holidays. Any recommendations?
We are looking for one on the large side ?400L. I guess side opening would be easier access but any other advice? and it terms of shape would a flat and wide one offer less resistance and better drive or would this type be more difficult to reach / load?
Also what is the max load that the roof can take including roof bars?
Thanks in advance.
Monica

Thougt the roof can take 100kg
But only 50 kg on it if you want to open the pop-top

Not sure about the T5 but this is an extract from my manual.

Hi
we use a roof box but only occasionally because of the difficulty in accessing the box .
i have even been known to carry a small 2 tread pair of steps.

In fact you do not see many Cali's with a roofbox , wonder why?
Hard to acces , higher verhicle on toll roads , even more fuell burn due to airodynanica , not good for pop-up roof?
All not in favor ....
More often see a towbar-box....Thule also got them.

Just seen this in france today.
Sits nice and low to the roof.

I regularly use my roof box when on scuba diving trips. Ideal for light but bulky items like fins, diving suits etc. Keeps wet/sandy items out of the van. I have a Thule box which opens either side. There are two types of roof bar available; I use the shorter type, so box is fairly close to roof.

If roof is down, I can access it by standing on rear seat but often carry a folding step (decorators platform) to make life easier.
