@Gudge According to the Caliboard forum you can’t remove the old one non destructively due to the glue (Sikaflex 521) used to spot bond the seal in the channels.

VW don't use that sealant, they use a 2 part adhesive. 521 is an alternative that others use, however it means leaving the roof held in an intermediate position for 12 hours
I managed to remove mine without damage, however it took a lot longer to do

Well done. Out of interest, is the top and bottom bonded in 5 places?

Only the bottom was bonded in the 5 places (joins in the aluminium extrusion)
