Anyone use anything to keep the roof seal flexible ??

Does the roof seal have to be flexible? I haven't looked at this part of our Cali in detail but surely the seal just sits against the rim of the roof when the roof is housed?

No, never heard of such a practice.

I now have heard of such a practice :happy

I would think it was general good practice to wipe all the seals at least once a year with some silicone spray to stop them drying out. This also stops them sticking to the paintwork when it's frozen.

As above I use the Gummi Pflege (Gummy Bears in our house)

That seal is best treaded like any other rubber (door)seal.
But in general it means keeping clean and treaded with a "product" once a while ,witch product there are diffrent meanings on , think there are treads on doorseals.
But think most don't bother on new verhicles anyway .

My van is only 2 years old and this winter suffered a tear in the rubber seal around the door! I have stuff in garage...am about to put it on.
Not covered by warranty...not surprised, but worth a try!
I did put talc round the seal of the roof...that seemed to work, but I dare say someone might point out that that might have dried it, rather than keep it supple....now thinking...will apply stuff tomorrow all the way around....just off to the garage to check what the stuff is.......

Worth..saBesto...gummifit
I can't review it cos I've had it for a couple of years and haven't used it....will try it tomorrow but will review after next winter!

I presume the rubber seal was frozen to the door ?

Worryingly I was not aware this was the case, so extra care will be taken next year.
I have just used the gummy on my car ...hoping that will help in the frosty mornings....not so cold today though!

Unfortunately it happens. Silicone spray on the seals can help. But on the California if I find the door is frozen during the winter then it is best to use another door to get in to avoid tearing the seals. They are quit thin and hollow and can tear easily.:thumb
