Roof warning symbol flashing

In the past three days the roof warning symbol on the control panel has been flashing after we have closed or opened the roof. The manual explains that it is overheating due to the roof being raised and closed too frequently and we should leave it alone for a few minutes to cool down. We are touring the south of France but only raising and closing the roof once a day at most. Today the warning symbol has been flashing without the roof being altered. Could this possibly be due to the heat of the sun raising the temperature of the van ? Sounds odd given the fact that Californias are likely to be used in hot countries - anyone had a similar experience.

Thanks Simon, that's very reassuring. The temperature yesterday was circa 30c and our van is black which doesn't help. Despite the flashing symbol we have had no actual problem with the roof going up or down, so I guess it must be the heat triggering the warning.
