Hi, I’m thinking of rotating/swapping my front and rear tyres. Both sets (front and rear) have good tread left but there is a difference between them as expected and so rotating should give me more life.

The issue I have is I’ve spoken to three local garages/tyre shops who have all given conflicting advice on feasibility and other considerations.

I‘d really appreciate any advice on the following please:
- How does TPMS affect things?
- Will the wheels need balancing post rotation?
- Any ideas on a very rough cost range?
- Anything else I haven’t considered?

Thank you for any views!

Tpms should not be affected, they will recalibrate
No re Balancing required the tyre is balanced to the rim not the vehicle / axle
expect about £20 -£40 for a tyre shop to swap front to rear etc..

if your tyres are rotational such as Michelin cross climates you can Only swap front to rear not side to side.

swapping front to rear , will potentially give you a longer time before you have to change two tyres, but there is no such thing as a free lunch!
All four will need replacement at the same time
