Skoda Citigo with £1650 deposit contribution and 4.9% finance over 18 months, or

VW Up! with 8.5% discount and 0% finance over 36 months.

Both cars from stock.

We had an Up pool car. Great little town car. However I did like my Fiat 500

My daughter had a new Up for her 1 st car.
She had a nasty accident with a Bmw 3 series which was travelling 60 mph plus.
The Bmw was a write off, the Up had a new front end and as good as new.
The car depreciated about £ 2k in 2 years, awesome little car for short local journeys.

We have an Up Beats 60hp., bought it new for the twins to learn to drive in - comes with leather steering wheel & gear knob , Tints, fancy seat coverings & a stereo more powerful than the engine.

Both twins actually took their tests in the car & passed.

Drives like a go cart & up to 20mph it can keep up with most things away from the lights. Has the lightest clutch I've ever come across & dead easy to park due to the length.

On paper its about the same performance as an Ocean 150.

Cost to date for 20k miles/ 2 years is 6p per mile for fuel & £140 for VED nothing on tyres or servicing etc

We did loads of comparisons prior to buying & compared with say a second hand corsa, what we spent extra on buying we saved on the insurance.

The Citigo comes in at ~£1,200 cheaper than the Up! even when the 0% Up! offer and 4.9% Citigo offer are included. ~£900 cheaper when we consider the options we wouldn't order but come with the stock vehicle (metallic paint and DAB radio on the Citigo, and white paint on the Up!)

Despite the Up! being a more attractive car, I think that the £900 may just win.

Heart with the Up!, wallet with the Citigo.

We looked at and drove both the Up and Citigo. Drive was unexpectedly near identical. We picked the Citigo because Skoda offered a better deal and we actually preferred the look too. Went with the Colour Edition in white with a black roof and wheels. The wife loves it.

Good morning,

While the van was for service my VW dealer gave me an UP! to get back to work.

I think it is a nice car. It was a very basic version, which from my point of view added to the charm.

What I didn't like was that on the motorway at 120 km there was a whistle, which I expect would be annoying on a longer journey. Below 120 km it was fine.

Beside that VW is a good brand, but charges more then the competitors. I would lean towards Amarillo's comment: Heart with the Up!, wallet with the Citigo.

Regards,
Eberhard

Speak to a dealer to see if there are any 'pack' cars about at the moment. I'm sure you'll get more than 8.5%.

We had a high up for 5 years and bought an Up GTi as its replacement a few months back. Really great fun to drive and got in the region of 13% discount.

I suspect the VW residual will be very slighter better than the Skoda in years to come.

Hi Tom,
Have you looked for a cheaper UP elsewhere in the UK? There must be plenty of them in UK stock and there must be some good deals about. After all, if your buying new they'll all be in the same mint and boxed condition. All you have to do is factor in the cost of a train ride and a day out.

I know where you were or at least where your van was yesterday. Still haven't straightened those stickers up then. :thumb

The damaged chair bag is being replaced. The stitching has failed, so rather than repair, the whole thing is coming off and a new one put on.

On the remote possibility that the new bag will come with new chairs, I took the old chairs out before driving to SMG. ;)

I didn't. Have a new CH-R arriving in September. Hybrid in lieu of the 1.2 which is irrelevant anyway as my fuel costs are recovered. Hybrid is around 5 to 6k more expensive to buy. The other half has made a grab for the new car and I will have her old PHEV which is perfect for my 2miles x4 a day commute.

Currently cycling at the moment!

Is that being replaced under warrantee? I hope it comes with chairs. They would be very useful for your boys.

I took one of our camping chairs in yesterday. The cheap plastic knuckle joint at the top of one of the the front legs had fractured. You only have to examine the break to see why these things are always breaking. They always let go across the weak point in this fitting created by the rivet hole.

This is the second chair to do this. The first chair was replaced under the initial three year warrantee. I had assumed that the second would be replaced under the two year extended factory warrantee but I was given the same answer as my last attempted claim......."sorry, it's not covered". I'm starting to think that every claim under the extended factory warrantee begins with that statement. This is a complete contadiction of the bold VW online advertising statements made about thier product. I can feel a shirty letter to VW Customer Services coming on! :headbang

P.S Sorry, for going off on a tangent.

That’s a good point. My company pays for all my diesel (and I pay tax on the private miles) but will they pay my electricity bill? Somehow, I doubt it.

tried the VW and Citigo recently - however ended up with a Hyundai I10 - so its not fashionable, but better engine. more power, better spec and newer vehicle. Try driving one, the 998cc petrol is a shock as its better than you would think.

Amarillo,

Have you had a look what deals there are through CarWow?
