Site suggestions close to wildlife reserves etc.

That’s the place of our childhood - we‘re expat Geordies! It’s a fantastic coastline for seabirds and seals etc. It’s unfortunately 3 hours + for us, but we do occasionally pop up to see people. Thanks!
Ah. We liked it so much we moved there (from Newcastle). There are a few small sites on the coast worth keeping in mind fir when the days are longer, if you don't mind a bit of wind.

Gibraltar Farm Campsite in Silverdale on the edge of South Lakes.

Lovely views of Morecambe Bay and Leighton Moss RSPB a handy walk away.

Wow, yet another place totally off our radar! Thanks for the tip. At this rate we have the next few years‘ nature trips sorted :D

It’s just over 2 hours - but crikey what a location :D. And a pub! It’s got to be worth the extra 15 minutes!! Thanks.
We’ve stayed there too. Lovely location, good walks. Tudor pub does very good food.

Visited RSPB Dearne Valley / Old Moor north of Sheffield today. Didn’t stay at a site, but had the van in at VW Van Centre Sheffield for some glitch fixing. It made it a worthwhile journey - nice day and loads of birds on the meres. Nice cafe too! (Edit - photos )

We’ve always wanted to get to Minsmere - our son did some filming with Chris Packham there a number of years back and said it’s a very special place. Am I right in thinking this location has toilets but no showers?
Yep Minsmere is excellent. it’s a Caravan and Motorhome ... just toilets no shower ... only five units.

The Eels Foot just outside of RSPB Minsmere takes vans… short walk into the reserve.
Great pub - so thanks for the suggestion. Minsmere is a fabulous reserve, had a great time.

Stayed at Eels Foot Inn near Minsmere last couple of days - good recommendation thanks!

RSPB Middleton is a great little reserve. Good for nesting terns and waterfowl.

If you camp at CCC Kingsbury waterpark you can walk to the reserve through the park. Kingsbury waterpark is a great venue itself for a bit of bird spotting. Couple of nice pubs on the canal too.

We’ve been to Middleton reserve a couple of times, but didn’t realise it was close to a CCC site. :thanks

Good to hear … we will definitely add that to our go to list.
