Sliding window parts compatability

I've come to the conclusion I need to bite the bullet and replace the entire sliding window or at least the slider part. I have tried all of the various fixes (cleaning the seals, cleaning the drains, silicone grease on the seals, replacing the latch pins, turning the worn front pin 180 degrees) but still have issues with leaking. It seems the seal is simply no longer pushed hard enough against the fixed glass and too much water gets in.
So I have two options, replace the full window, or get hold of the slider part and see if that helps.
My van is a T5, if replacing the full window are the T5, T5.1 and T6 windows all the same? They have different part numbers, but look pretty much the same. Could I put a T6 one in my T5.
Same question for the slider part, would later versions fit my T5?
I know the T6.1 has a different style of catch, is everything else the same? Would that also fit?
Thanks

Edit: Found part of the answer. Full T6 window will fit in T5. Just need to make sure I get the glass type correct to match. To me the glass in my van looks clear, but I assume this is green tint as I think only green was offered in 2008. Build sticker doesn't tell me unfortunately. Is there any other way to tell?

i have a pair of t6 window panes from a caravelle or some twin slider van I think (that were removed and replaced with non-openeners becasue the factory one leak..) - I plan to offer them up against mt T5 and see if they are any better.

I am actually tempted to run a bead of clear CT1 around both of them and solve the problem forever - I never open the damn things and all they do is cause me problems. This weeks problem is mould in the kitchen where the kitchen window had leaked over winter...

From reading various threads I think @AlistairC used a T6 window in his T5 and all
fitted fine.
I’m tempted with sealing permanently too as a temporary measure while I save / mentally prepare to spend on new windows!

Any recommendations for who may be able to fit new windows around the Bath / Bristol area other than VW. There are numerous van conversion companies, so having some steer is always helpful rather than just relying on Google!

Hi @Chris_569 I too need to get my T5 windows replaced. I'm based down the road in Yeovil so curious to find out if you have had yours done now and where? I've green tint windows (not dark privacy) Ideally I'd like to find a flush sliding window solution but I'm not sure if they exist? If not what do people recommend as good looking reliable units?

I'm part way through getting them replaced at the moment. As you will see from searching other threads on here you will need genuine windows as the sliding door trim and kitchen is fitted to the shape of the sliding rails on the windows (assuming you have a California).
I have ended up buying some new windows direct from VW. They were the cheapest of the readily available suppliers and I couldn't wait around on the off chance one of the surplus stock resellers got hold of some. I am collecting the windows this week and have a auto glass fitter sorted to fit them in a few weeks time. Some of the window fitters I spoke to wanted the kitchen unit removing, but others didn't so you just need to do your research. I didn't fancy attempting it myself although others have on here (again a search will bring up the relevant threads). Good luck.

Thanks for the reply @Chris_569 I don't have a California, I've got a 2005 vintage AutoSleeper Trooper (great conversion with the unique I believe 'solid' pop roof), so I don't have any issues with regards trim matching / fitting. I'm finding the whole process of searching for a suitable replacement really frustrating. Normally you'd bang into google what it is you want a voila up would pop the solution, but I seem to get a myriad of duff options. I think I've got to resign myself that a third party flush solution in light green tint doesn't exist as the bulk of after market 'converters' prefer a dark tint. That then leaves looking for the best i.e. least ugly, recessed option that someone actually has in stock with decent pictures so I can see what I'm getting. Out of curiosity what did you end up paying for the VW windows? I'm also curious if there was any change made to the last T6.1 windows and if they fit the T5? I see mention of different parts for T5/T6 and T6.1 but don't know what the actual differences are.

As far as I know T5, T5.1 and T6 windows are the same. The OEM windows had a few very minor improvements to drainage over the years. The part numbers I have found from lllparts and also kindly provided by calikev and confirmed by VW are for T6 windows. This is what I have bought from VW. I think the T6.1 windows have a different catch, but I don't know if anything else is different.
If you don't need OEM, it might be worth speaking to some window fitters as they have windows they regularly use so could probably give you details and send photos etc.
