Solar panels .... unexpected benefits

We are finally encountering some serious sun and noticed that with 2 solar panels on the roof of our grey van, coming back to the parked van (roof down) the inside was surprisingly cool..... It would make sense if the solar panels were pushing the energy into electricity........ am I imagining this benefit... anyone else seen this effect?

My old van's panel would get quite hot when it was in intense sun, I never really considered the effect on the roof temperature but if the suns not hitting the roof it make sense for it to be cooler I guess.

Would not have thought it makes a noticeable difference - you have the trim inside the roof panel and then 2" or so of foam mattress - all pretty good insulation when closed.
