Just had my front speakers replaced with new Blam component speakers for £400 fitted

The difference it’s made to the sound from the basic head unit is amazing. It’s now like the sound is coming out of the windscreen and is so much clearer on the treble and mid range

I definitely recommend doing a speaker swap ahead of any other audio upgrades

Who fitted them and which specific Blam speakers were fitted?

They are Blam 200RS which are specific fit for the T5 and T6. I got them fitted at Cartronics in West Byfleet

I’m sure you could add a small active sub under the drivers seat if you wanted, but I was surprised at the difference just decent speakers made. I’ve only got the standard VW head unit and it doesn’t seem lacking in power with the new speakers. I’d suggest front speakers should be the first stage in any upgrade

Hi
I’ve also had the same blam speakers fitted and I agree the difference in sound is awesome and no need to upgrade head unit.

Hi cayman57
Thinking of doing the same
Who supplied and fitted yours as I am not to far from you

This is great advice and follows for many vehicles - the 'upgrades' that manufacturers charge an arm and a leg for are in real terms vastly overpriced and overrated. In most cases the head unit is fine and the issue is that most of them fit the cr@ppiest, cheapest, flimsiest main speakers they can get away with. Upgrading (as you have done) the main door speakers and in many cases 'Dynamatting' the doors too will give dramatic improvements at a much lower cost than ticking the build order option sheet.

This is an upgrade I was looking at for a BMW recently but the principle is the same:

Hi Alan
Yes very pleased with the blam speaker upgrade. They also dynamatted the complete doors as well and the cost was £450 altogether. They are Pulse in hadleigh and I highly recommend them. Good luck with the upgrade

Hi blirty
Yes they include the tweeters and crossovers which are located in the pillars where the windscreen blinds fold into on the ocean or top of dash on the T5. And no I haven’t replaced the rear speakers yet but will at some point

I’m not going to bother with the rears as my fader is skewed to the front so that my kids don’t have to suffer the oldies music!
