Simple rear Speaker upgrade

@Moggie Moo , now that you have the speakers open, are you able to peel back the tape where the two cables join and tell me how they are joined and the cable colours please? There seem to be 2 cables each that go out from the speakers, but beyond that, it seems to be only 3 cables (tried to feel it through the cable wrapping outside the box. Trying to determine which cable to tap into if I am planning to attach an external Bluetooth amp to the cable for input from my phone when the vehicle is at a camp site.

I have cut off the OEM speaker wires and plugs. They look like 3 wires but are in fact two just wound together with the cloth tape for strength. Mine are blue/Brown and brown is the +VE. I have saved the cables so i will unravel the tape to see how they are spliced together. I think they just split then the crossover is on the original tweeters.

so had a look at the original speaker wires. there are two leads from the loom. brown/white +VE and blue/white-VE. they go into the woofer connector pins and then the tweeter wires connect from the plug to the tweeter. It looks like they are spliced together but they are not (which is good...) so if you fit components then this is fine, just connect into the crossover and wire up each component separately from there. see pics below.

The woofer connector its the one without the horrid grey stuff on it! This plug is also larger than the tweeter one.... Straightforward job!

sooo.., how did this project go ? Was the sound improvement significant? Im gathering research as to how best to upgrade the audio in my MY23 Ocean (the std setup to my ears is terribly underwhelming). Currently chasing DSP system or not and ALL speakers or just fronts...

Thanks!

It’s not awful, but could be so much better.
Shame there isn’t a thread with a How To and which speakers to purchase.
I’m sure I’ve read you cannot plug an Amplifier into the head unit output, then run all speakers & sub.
From the Amp.
Would be nice for a plug and play system.

on opening the van door today, the rear right speaker near wardrobe made an odd farting noise, did it a few times. no radio on. on powering up audio and using the fader i find the bass has failed completely on the speaker,as if the speaker has failed or maybe a wire has come off? .is there a tweeter in there too ? as getting treble ok ? might look at doing this upgrade. has anyone else had a speaker fail completely like that ? i do have the audio on max power alot when listening to anjunadeep. and why the farting noise on door opening ? is it inerference from the fuel pump ?
another cali job to do !!!

I wonder if the speaker cone has failed and the change in air pressure when you open the door is causing the cream knackered cone to fart?!

i thought that too,but did it with the side door open ? when it first happened i was stood there thinking, wtf was that ? i'll have to have a look at it when back home now in a few week. ill fade that speaker out for the loud anjunadeep edition driving sessions. anyone know the size/replacement/easy upgrade for the T6 rears ?

Do the pioneers screw straight into the existing holes and is the plug the same. T6 rear not working. Why are there holes in that back plate. Makes no sense

I’ve spent the last couple of days fitting powerbass door speakers and tweeters plus a vibe power box 65.4 inline amp into the glovebox of my T5.1 SE. Are there any drop in replacements for the rear speakers as currently these sound a bit crap compared to the rest of the upgraded system!

Well just fitted 2 pioneers. They weren't an exact swap but I've clamped them down using longer screws and disc washers. Be careful with longer screws as they may come through the fabric cover below. Cut, check, cut again or pack with washers. Had to cut the plugs off and just fitted crimps to the wires. Then sound deadening stuck into the covers. 5mm 3m tape reapplied and stuck back down. All sounding good.
Edit.esrly t6. Someone said these part numbers were a straight swap. They aren't.
