Hi all, I think this topic may well have been previosly discussed but the 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd gear change on my 2015 T5.1 Beach is painfully crunchy. It is worse when cold but never great. The box code is PAU. A local transmission specialist speculated that a previous owner may have changed the oil for a heavy weight transmission fluid that does not agree with the 3 cone syncro. I have no idea if this gearbox even has a 3 cone syncro but would be willing to change the oil if I could find the correct spec. Does anyone have any experience with this issue and ways to resolve it. The vehicle has done about 110,000 miles.
I did ask the Lookers mechanics to check the selector cable setting at the last service but they said it was all ok.

Does the Handbook not give the Oil Specification?

Local VW van centre parts department can supply the correct gearbox oil (matched to the reg / vin number of your van) it isn't much more expensive than any other source and you get the correct one for the job. My one was G052527A2 oil but that is for a 6 speed 2014 180 4 motion so yours might be a different one if it's a different box.
