T5 4x4 right front clapping noise

Hallo from Cape Town, South Africa,
Please help......
We have just bought our first California 2007 4 motion with 145 000 km on
It is making a clapping noise right front and it is not speed related....also not vc coupling.........vw mechanic said the side shaft feels loose in the diff which means the diff need to be replaced as there is no parts ...?.
Any advice will be appreciatted

As I get it from that discussion is that the right from drive shaft need to be replaced ?

The right drive shaft is indeed a common T5 issue, but much less so in the 4Motion; the shaft construction there is massively different, no such big difference between left and right as in the regular models.

Hi snowy55,
it has not been resolved as yet; had all the parts checked out and replaced the upper shock mounting ....
The noise is softer but still there when going through large potholes at speed
The only part that has not been replaced or verified is the right front shock; will do within the next 3 months ..... hopefully
