T6.1 beech specs

Hi all, I’m fairly new to the forum and as posted before, I’m after a t6.1 beach. Narrowly missed out on a couple so far… but I’m still a bit confused as to what constitutes a ‘good spec’. I know this can be subjective. Plenty advertise as this but don’t seem to be loaded with options…

Did VW add options as packages or mainly just single options you could bolt on to your order?

Beyond deciding if you want a three seat bench or the two seater beach, I think there were some packages like “lights and vision” with better bulbs? But I think the two main options you could add, that cannot easily be retro fitted, are:
1) rear air con - quite a marmite topic on the forums but personally I don’t think you need it as the front aircon cools the back just fine
2) diesel aux heater - if you are not camping in winter you don’t need that, but if you are, you do!
Apart from them, anything else can be retrofitted like a tow bar, fancy wheels, even changing the colour of the paint. You can buy seat covers in whatever trim you like that look like original seats.

Morning, just been through this recently before we bought ours. What's good for us might not be the same for you. When we were deciding we had a wish list and it turned out that a fair few things were actually standard. Here in Germany, Autoscout and another, Mobile.de gives loads of search options....

In no particular order we were looking for:
Beach 3 seat bench (take out immediately)
LED headlights
Digital dash
Discover pro
Diesel heater
18' wheels
Alcantara seat cloth (cleans easier)
Towbar (bike rack not on the back door)
204 4Motion
Swivel front seats
Fortana red

So ended up with:
All the above but candy white instead of Fortana red and as a bonus...
Springfield alloys + winter set with unused tyres with the purchase
Electric sliding door (those buttons over in the passenger / middle area)
Hill descent (handy here with the snow)
Rear aircon-heater

Discovered later we have Sports pack and privacy glass which we never knew were options. There might be more that we haven't found yet... upstairs lights, were they an option...?

Good luck, the search can take a while but it can be fun!

Re the heater, if you're always going to have hook-up in the winter then you could just use an electric fan heater?

Heater is essential, as calis do not have any insulation between body panels.

The good news is that they can be retrofitted.

We want the 3 seat bench in the rear, as we want the van to be as versatile as possible which is why we are drawn to the Beach.

As for the heater we do want one, I’d be looking for a heater fitted from factory. I have absolutely no idea about extra interior lights. I guess if you don’t know about it you can’t miss not having them.
