Check rear earthing , I know the T5 had issues with the rear earth points literally rotting (from memory they are behind the rear lights, look for corrosion , check continuity etc)Sorry should read,
Been doing it on and off for ages. Been to 4 garages, no codes in OBD system, changed the motor, the handle. At a loss… help.
We had the same thing and it wasn't the lock at fault because I was able to isolate and test. It also wasn't the micro switch because the panel knows when it's shut, so I think it is perhaps the module which controls the lock, which I believe is behind the rear trim panel somewhere. I decided that was much to difficult to remove without damaging the many trims that need to come off. So although not the best solution, I unplugged the lock mechanism and used a wire from the cigarette light to power it manually until it was in the fully closed position. Then left it unplugged and refitted the trim over it. You can now slam the boot shut like a normal one now with no soft close and it is fully pulled in.Anyone else had similar?
Does it show closed on the MFD? Because I tried to get this situation but because the tailgate wasnt showing as closed the alarm goes off!We had the same thing and it wasn't the lock at fault because I was able to isolate and test. OK, off the top of my head, and you may disagree.Does it show closed on the MFD? Because I tried to get this situation but because the tailgate wasnt showing as closed the alarm goes off!
Thanks for your reply, I’m at my wits end
My one did show closed on the mfd, so yours is a different fault. It sounds like your one is possibly more to do with the closed micro switch or wiring to it instead then.Does it show closed on the MFD? Read the start of this thread last week, went away at the weekend and lo and behold we had exactly the same trouble on Sunday morning after a wet night. Joy. Boot lid continually trying to re close, alarm going off randomly and warning of open boot while driving. Before we left I noticed a bit of water in the boot lock mechanism (the receiving bit, not the boot lid itself) and paper towelled it. The intermittent warning stopped after driving for about half an hour and the issue hasn't come back. Really interesting to read yours was damp related Nick. I'll keep an eye on it. As to how moisture got into the lock mechanism...Had this issue, the lock had had water in it at some point, cleaned it and relubricated it all good now.
The water in mine came from a couple of coax cables I have coming off the roof and into the van through through the tailgate, rerouted the cables slightly and no problem since.Read the start of this thread last week, went away at the weekend and lo and behold we had exactly the same trouble on Sunday morning after a wet night.
