Just had a conversation with Admiral Travel insurance who will cover a trip of 31 days, but because we are both over 60 they will not extend the trip length cover to 45 days. Has anyone else had this ?? as it seems very discriminatory against old people.......who incidentally will be the only people who could go on holiday for a long time LOL

Regards Terry

I wouldn't say it's discriminatory against old people - plenty of people of all ages spend a good chunk of their lives travelling - I have!

You should be able to get 45 day trip cover readily on any comparison website, but you will pay quite a bit more.
We were quoted around £250 for annual multi trip cover from Aviva with 31 day trip limit which jumped to £370 for 45 day limit. ( ages 71 and 66 )

The other thing to check if your planning on longer trips is your house insurance, most have standard clauses that exclude significant areas of cover if unoccupied for > 60 days

Staysure applies the 35 day limit at age 70.
UK home Insurance also have a vacant time limit so not an issue for me as they both have the restriction.
