Tree on roof!

Hello All

Not a good morning! Had a freak 10 minute storm/whirlwind/tornado thing in our area which resulted in a large part of a neighbours tree on the roof of our van! Gutted!! Quite extensive damage to roof, bonnet. awning, windscreen etc. Just wondered if anyone knew of good repairers in the Kettering/Northamptonshire area that would be likely to undertake this sort of thing? The insurers said we can find who we want but am assuming it is likely to have to go through VW due to the specialist nature of the roof etc. The thing is, we would really want to use a dealership that uses a good bodyshop for the non-specialist bits.
Any info most appreciated.

Thanks.

We had roof repair by AB panelcraft near Canterbury 1st class service This was back when VW did full roof repairs not the stick on cap. The cap and roof came off for repair. AB crush must be about 140miles from you.

Sorry to hear your woes.
I suspect any reputable repair co. Will simply replace all panels. (If not insist on it).
I would insit on all damaged panels being replaced with original VW parts. The value of the van is the write off value ! Therefore there is no issue with cost reaching write off. A repaired panel will never be as good as an OEM replacement.
Original VW screen, new awning etc.
appart from the roof everything else seems pretty straight forward, look for a company whom can remove the original roof and replace it with a new OEM, I suspect this will include new bellows as well.

As far as repair co ;
I have no experience of this companies Body shop / repair service
but I do with Servicing & warranty work,
they have proven to be competent in everything they have done for me.
They have an in house body shop.
I have been happy to recommend them to others, whom have had similarly good experience,
I am sure they would collect your van an deliver it back once fixed.
obviously any parts they use would be OEM & you would have the all important provenance of a VW main dealer repair

VW CityGate Wooburn Green.

This is who vw kettering use
Thanks @calikev . That's good to know. I have used them before independently and they are really good. I didn't realise Kettering VW are using them now. Just wonder if Kettering can cope with the roof stuff, as I haven't had a great experience with them in the past. Having said that, it was several years ago. Maybe they've improved.

Thanks. I was also thinking of Shorade that did our original roof repair. However, they don't seem to be VW approved any more, so may have lost their California roof expertise.

It would appear that many that have worked under the VW roof program have been bitten, working for VW direct, and have therefore ceased working for VW, I wouldnt mind betting those companies would still carry out private works (I.e. not direct for VW)

Out of interest will it be your neighbour's home insurance that pays (act of God) or your own car insurance?
