Hiya folks,

I removed my front passenger seat from the seat box. 1) I was curious to look at the leisure battery and gubbins, and 2) I was fitting a CTEK indicator connector loom to the battery.

When I removed the seat I did disconnect the seat from a wiring loom attaching from seat box to the seat base.
I unplugged a yellow three pin connector. I did my small mod and replaced the seat, re-connecting the yellow connector before bolting down seat.

Starting the van, my airbag dash icon remains on. On the MDF display it states something airbag fault or similar.

What have I done? Does something need rebooting or clearing?

Cheers AlanABS light 017.JPG ABS light 012.JPG

I think you may not unplug those with the contact on .
Did you ?
Guess it can be read out using ODB

Ps , you can not edit your post when you are no VIP member , i will sort it out

Do you mean switched on/running?
I was parked switched off on my drive.
Whats OBD?

You just need to get it plugged in and re set,it’s just the van thinking there’s a fault
Really easy fix
BUT
If you take it to vw I think they have a minimum charge for plugging it in?
If you have a good relationship with them and explain they may just do it for nothing (if your lucky) :)
Failing that find a garage with vag com they can turn out the light(reset it)
Don’t worry easy mistake to make

Sorry should have said OBD , it's a divice to clear codes and faults out the computer.

By the way
What is this CTEK indicator loom thingy what’s it for bud???

Cheers for the info.
I've got a CTEK battery charger left over from my Defender days. I thought seeing that my van has done 400 miles in my three months ownership. I want to keep on top of the batteries. I have attached this loom connector to the battery for easy access onwards. The small leds tell me what the battery is up to. I can tuck under the seat box in a flash.

vag com is that a thing?
It’s a thing yep
Software for vw’s dedicated vw’s
Many Audi vw specialists garages have it
You can use many different types but try sticking to the vw dedicated ones really
You can actually buy it for your own laptop

Vag-com now known as VCDS look at http://www.ross-tech.com/

Not cheap to buy for yourself if it's not a thing that you have general use for but there are lots of enthusiasts with it, have a look on the T4/5 or T6 forums for some one local to you who is willing to re-set the fault for you.

I have VCDS but I'm too far away from you I guess.

Halford's accidentally triggered mine when fitting a camera and I was sent to a Halford's Service Centre for it to be reset. 10 mins job but as it was the shop who paid the Service Centre I can't give a price.

If you did not switch the ignition ON while the seat wiring was disconnected you may not be able to reset the alarm as yo u may have a faulty connection that may need fixing first.

Agree but one of those catch 22 situations where you can't tell if it is simply needs resetting or there is a fault where it can't be reset until the fault is found and fixed. Either way it needs an OBD device plugging in.

I've had the light on 3 times in 8 months, last time was the passenger keyswitch going faulty (on the end of the dash) other 2 by technicians during upgrades.

Can I sort this out with an OBD reader purchased from say Halfrauds.
Are the cheap ones just readers or can you re-set for them also.
I so I can pop into local, and pick one up.
Or is that too easy ...

No, the reader will just show/confirm a fault. You need the full diagnostic programme for a VW van. Usually on a Laptop programme.
Annoyingly the Cali doesn't clear the airbag warning itself even if the fault has been fixed.

Would one of these be suitable for a cali? & more importantly could someone who knows how these things work tell me if it should let me enable retrofitted Genuine VW parking sensors in our VW up?

If you are near Nuneaton/Coventry I can reset it for you, the code is easy to reset with a basic device and app.

I have the Carista app and a dongle, plus a VAG device.

At £50 I would doubt it will do much. Just read the description & sounds like it does everything. Would be interesting to see if it works properly.
Genuine VCDS HEX CAN USB leads are expensive I paid £257 for mine in 2015. This is unlimited vin use.

This is a good buy though
As stated in listing Ross-tech now sell them with unlimited use at £450, 10 vin license at £299 or 3 vin for £225 , so this one is worth money ! Be interesting to see what it goes for !!

I used something similar there is a review on here somewhere, you will need to understand what to change which can be worked out with VCDS lite I believe.
