Hi hive,

2021 Ocean 5.1 here. We recently suffered a puncture (a story for a separate post). The TPMS warned us as expected.

Whilst dealing with this, we were not able to view the pressures of each individual tyre as described on Fig. 263, “Illustration … current tyre pressures “. We tap “Menu, Vehicle,

Depends which system you have fitted.
1. Indirect. - uses ABS system to measure wheel rotational speed. If a tyre loses pressure then it’s diameter/circumference reduces so rotational speed increases in relation to set reading - Alarm.

2. Direct TPMS, a paid for Option on new vehicles. Sensors in each wheel relay actual pressure via ? wifi to vehicle to display.

If the valve stems on your wheels are just the normal black rubber ones then you only have the Indirect system which relies on the ABS system. If they're silver metal then you have the Direct version.

Sometimes it updates after driving a few miles.

Simple: was individual pressure displayed before the puncture ?

Hello all,

Thanks for all the helpful replies. My stems (at least on the summer wheels) are black, so I guess we didn't tick that option! I speak German well and thought we'd ticked almost all the options, but will now go back and check.

@Roger - true - but I simply did not notice. To be honest, I find VW's Cali instrumentation a complete illogical mess, so I ignore it and just drive and enjoy the California. It's all such a mess compared to our Tesla!
