I have a 180SE 4Motion.
I fitted Goodyear Cargo Vector 4Season tyres, all round, 20,063 miles ago.

Goodyear state that new tyres have a tread depth of 8 mm.

I measured the tread depth today using a zeroed electronic gauge.

The Mean tread depth of all 4 tyres was 5.45 mm with a variation of -0.1 to +0.07 mm Front to Rear and NS to OS.

So that is about 3mm for 20,000 miles, so probably another 10,000 miles before a pre-emptive change at about 3mm.

I haven’t rotated the tyres and have no intention of doing so.

Be aware though that tyres have a timed lifespan of about 4 years as the rubber compound starts deteriorating over time. Something that will not be a problem as I’m averaging 20,000 miles/year at present.

I agree i have averaged about 24k miles on my tyres, since changing from continentals to khuma tyres

We have Goodyear Cargo Vector 4Season tyres and replaced the fronts back in July, when they got down to 3mm at 25k miles. The rear have both still got 5mm on with 28k miles driven and they have just reached 4yrs old. Think I'll see this winter out on them before renewing the rears in spring.

FWD or 4Motion?

I changed mine at around 3-4mm (Goodyear Vectors) and they must have done at least 30,000 miles. Very even wear as well.

Smooth.....Impressive.....

I don't know the exact mileage as I have winters on for about 4 months of the year but it has to be around 30,000.

Knowing how many miles my winters have done is equally difficult as I manage to shred one or two each year :shocked

Winters....!....something we know nothing of in southern Portugal......but something the old lag may need to get used to again if repatriated to UK.

As I recall winter tyres are not even allowed on Portuguese roads :shocked

I am getting to the point where the fitting of them may be a thing of the past for me. My love of High altitudes, mountains and all things white is rapidly being replaced by just wanting to be warm these days :D

Lol.....here it’s still shorts n brandy at midnight with mid 20c & shorts.....

Cali may soon be repatriated to WG homeland though.....

4 Season tyres will see you through anything the UK can throw at you.

Steer clear of Hankook.
I’ve just replaced my fronts after 12months and 10000 miles. Not impressed, going back to Kumho.

Thanks WG, I have 204 4 Motion with original Dunlops at rear showing 4mm after 23000 and new Dunlops at front (replaced after 20000 as wearing at edges due to underinflation - as has been reported elsewhere the recommended pressures seem to be about 10 % low according to my tyre specialist). I planned to replace all with the GY Vectors and will probably do that by December so good to hear about their performance.

24k miles, at my 20k check my rears were still 8mm and my fronts were 4mm. Pretty impressed I must say. I feel like the fronts need changing even if they still have 3mm left as Im starting to feel a difference in handling.
