It's being sold at a car supermarket so don't think it includes side awning or a bike rack.

On for 41k

Your thoughts would be much appreciated

Each to their own but for me....
Those bullet point don't help very much and i'd be put off that a vehicle such as this ends up in a supermarket with a skeleton description.
There is no mention of service history, amount of owners or other factory optional extras.
Look in the classifieds here and see the love and care from the seller.
A quick browse there myself just a moment ago tells me its a bit high but until you have had the chance to get familiar with an SE you'll not be able to make a good comparison.

Sounds a bit pricey to me even if it has a "good" history.

As above, most of what you listed is standard SE equipment, does it have Privacy glass, parking sensors, Alcantara seats, 3 zone a/c etc
Please look on the forum at the checklist for buying/collecting a Cali, you need to be looking at the roof and it's canvas for corrosion and tears, check all electrics etc. You are better buying from a VW garage with regard to warranty and knowledge or from a previous owner as a car supermarket will know very little about the Cali. Not cheap, depends on the spec but it's end of the season, bargain hard if you like it :thumb.

Thanks all for your quick replies.

Was just testing the waters with this one really. I know a vw garage would be best for warranty etc but the guy from my local vw garage who showed me a cali really didnt have mich of a clue about it or thw extras or even the roof corrosion.
Private is my preferred option I just need to be patient I reckon.

There are usually several new ads on this forum each week so gen up on what are your Cali essentials ie SE/Beach, man/dsg, spec etc. and keep looking at least twice a day on here. :thumb

As said, there is no way on earth a Cali should be up for sale in such a place. Well sus.

Didn’t a couple of forum members sell their California’s through WeBuyAnyCrap a few months go because they were offering more £££ than VW dealers...?

Run Forrest, run. I have no idea why people entertain the idea of a used 180. Just not worth the potential hassle. Not exactly cheap either.

At that age 4 yrs, ignoring the milage, it should have had or due to have a Cambelt and Water pump change, as well as certain other service items done that are time limited.
Low milage vehicles, and there are many, often don't have the time limited service items done so beware.
eg: DSG - Oil and filter 40k miles OR 2 years, Haldex coupling on a 4Motion the same. Could be expensive in the longer term. Also low milage eat through Brake pads and Disks much quicker.

Because they have the common sense to know what they are dealing with and don't believe all the Internet crap others do.
One could say - Don't touch a T6, EGR coolant leaks, Cylinder heads cracking, exhaust leaks from the EGR etc: etc: More T6 owners every day posting with problems. Total rubbish and they've only been out a couple of years, what's to come.

Indeed, time will tell but if you only run in warranty, it’s not so bad.

2014 - No worse than a 140 of the same era.
As stated on other threads and as you know it is not the 180 engine but the 180 EGR and the faulty type in question was manufactured up to late 2015. Other types of EGR have been fitted to 180 models but you wouldn't know which one you have without detailed inspection.

Ex Rental perhaps?

Big difference is, the 180s high fuel consumption issue is well known and fact. Above issues are unlucky and can happen with any vehicle.
Buying a used 180 is a big gamble. You may as well pop down the local casino and stick £35k on red. Perhaps you’ll be lucky, but strong odds you won’t...

My sister has the 180 Cali, absolutely zero issues to date (baring earth shunt). Fingers crossed it continues.

DISAGREE. knowledge and common sense all important. it's not a £35k gamble only £6k for a new engine. steer away from 2010/11 vehicles and for a sensible price, not much of a gamble. at least it has the power for some of the more extreme areas of Europe or Scandinavia.

I would love to know why people believe the rubbish published on the Internet, there has been more posts about problems with the T6 than the 180.
Maybe it's jealousy of the 180 in the past.:D

So they don't suffer from high fuel consumption then?

Whats the difference between "normal" and "High" consumption? 3 maybe 5 mpg? WOW. Live a little, stick your foot down.

Well this is the first I've heard of 180's being an issue. Is this commonplace knowledge or just hearsay???

My dream cali is a 180 dsg 2014 with as many extras as I can lay my hands on and hopefully lowish mileage and well looked after.
Should I be only looking for 140's surely it's just another turbo and an updated map to turn it into a 180.

I know about the timing belt and pump but just want the cali to be as new as I can afford, altho I'm sure some will say otherwise.

Coming from Landrover Vehicles, No, or my RX8.
compared to a Smart Car, Yes.

I’ m getting 32 mpg, mixed driving over the last 20,000 miles., or 33.2 on my recent trip to Venice. I personally think that is very good for a 3 ton camper that cruises at 70+ on the European motorways. And that is brim to brim measurements.

Unlike some, Fuel Consumption did not figure in my decision making process, nor increased service costs.
