Bought a vango cairns low driveaway last year and never really faced bad weather. This year has been a different story, in the 16 days we have been away we've faced 3 storms with plenty of rain.
Where the tent, figure of eight and kadar meet it has leaked....can't have the door open as it splashes on the step. Also, and what seems odd, the corridor roof between van and main tent is lower than the van awning and the first set of poles. This means water collects as a puddle which makes the problem worse. The floor of the corridor becomes extremely wet and often muddy.
We have thought about widening the poles to lower the height but then the internal ground sheet won't fit.
Rewatched the YouTube video and we are errecting the driveaway properly. We'll go back to the safari room but it's not always so convenient, feel let down as some of these products are quite expensive.

Have you tried attaching the figure of eight directly to the awning and not using the kador? I did this on my kampa and it tensioned up the tunnel section much better, it also raises the height so there’s more fall on that section, not sure if that would help with the leaking though?

The Cairns awning looks similar to the Vango Kela we’ve been using, and we have had the same problems. Looking at the height dimensions of the Cairns it confirms the canvas will be higher than the wind out awning base at about 190cm, and likely higher than the awning rail at around 195cm. There are 3 options to try. First use levelling ramps, both ramps on the awning side, front and rear, to elevate the side of the van. Not great if like a level van though and creates a bigger step in. Second, attach the awning Fig of 8 strips to the TOP edge of the wind out awning (need to let it out about 10cm first, then wind in when connected. This also helps the leaks and opening the side door. Finally, you can fully extend the wind out awning, forming a bridge between van and drive away awning. Get some side tarps for the wind out awning to make more private / rain shedding. This works well, and the drive away acts as storms strap for the wind out.
