Brekkie in the cafe this morning, then a nice walk down the canal. So many people on narrow boats to chat to as they chug along. Back for a late lunch. Lots of people buying goodies in the shop, meeting friends and getting out there chairs. So, unlike most Britstops we had our chairs and table out on the grass beside the van. Chatted for ages with a man who’s boat’s moored behind us. Now just chilling in the van reading, listening to the radio and eating too much cake from the shop.

Just after this a policeman came and hit him over the head with his truncheon. Then a crocodile came and stole all the sausages we’d bought in the farm shop!

Spent 3nights parked up in spittal Glenshee, pure bliss. Amazing hikes and wildlife.

Hanging out at the beach. I bought the tailgate tent to use as a changing room, it keeps wetsuits out of the van. The ground here is too hard to peg it out, so I just weighed the skirt down with rocks. Had the awning up so eight of us could get out of the rain! Fortunately just the one heavy shower.

Canal side farm shop and cafe, Great Hayward, near Stafford. Great place and on the Trent Mersey canal. Very close to Shrugborough Hall, National Trust house & estate. Stopping over tonight.

Yes, Nick. We stayed for free because we’re members of the Britstops scheme. They just wanted our reg number. But if you’re not Britstops you can pay to stay. Forgot to ask how much!

I would phone first at the mo because of Covid and not just turn up, just in case. All the staff there are really friendly and we had a great time. We arrived lunch time on Saturday and left after closing time on Sunday.

They have 24/7 proper loos with Electric light, hot and cold water sink and air hand drpier plus, outside, a water hose if you want to fill up.

If you don’t get a space by the canal in the day, you can park round the side and move when the carpark thins out.

If you have kids, in October they do PYO pumpkins.
