Tut tut, where is your bellows bungee! ;)

Ha! It's still "as new" in the door pocket..... I've slept in my Hotel California over 125x nights since I got it, I'm not sure exactly how many of these nights I've used the pop-top but I'd reckon the vast majority.

I even bought the bungee before I took delivery of the Cali.....:headbang

No problems with the bellows yet..... I've seen bellow fabric marked/damaged by the bungee..... I also heard the T6 fabric suffers less from this problem, than the T5. So, I've never bothered fitting the bungee to-date.... Maybe I just like living life on the edge, who knows :Nailbiting

I have not fitted my bungee to Alfie.

59 nights so far tempting fate, but I must admit it's been "once bitten" with me and the walk-round eyeball check with roof 2/3rds down is now mandatory.

It was before, only once did I not bother ...:headbang

I kept meaning to get a bungee but have never done it and having watched the roof coming down everytime it seems to me the bellows wont get caught too easily especially with others looking on the outside (tempting fate I know) though I will get one for occasions when I go away on my own. I'm pretty sure thats the key.

Great - I was thinking about doing that route in the van or by bike (motor not pedal) - would love to know your thoughts about sites along the way. Enjoy the journey :thumb

We felt that we blasted through Germany, could’ve stayed for a few more days. Both sites we stayed on were part of the ACSI scheme so we saved a little money.

We spent the first night near Koblenz at http://www.camping-wolfsmuehle.de/. It was a pleasant site by the river. The facilities were clean, pitches a good size and the onsite restaurant served great pizzas. There was a road that was kind of busy but didn’t really bother us.

We then headed towards Würzburg and stayed just south at a great country campsite. https://www.camping-paradies-franken/ This site was really nicely set in the countryside and ideal for joining the Romantic Road at Rothenburg.

We only spent a day on the road but you could easily spend a week stopping in all the towns and villages. Nördlingen was particularly beautiful. However, once you’ve seen six beautiful Bavarian towns and villages it gets a bit repetitive.

Wished we’d spent more time on the German Alpine Road.

Thanks for the info - very useful to know.
I've spent the last couple fo years touring the Back Forest on my bike but really want to do the run down from Wurzburg to Fussen, and thought it might be more fun in the Cali. I'll make a note for the Alpine Road for future reference.
Also note the point about how many towns can you really appreciate - probably best to pick a couple and savour fully. A bit like a good bratwurst!
Safe travels and thanks again.

We were just the other side of the river at Uphill on Sunday. Tried talking some photos but the Cali kept sticking it's nose in!!

Amazingly I figured that out from the fact you're from Bristol. Where's Uphill? I loved the parking on the beach lark. Prefer Brean to Weston, although haven't been to WSM for years.

I'm based in Portishead so a few beach parking options nearby. We like Brean Beach as well but Uphill is easier to get to for us. Technically part of Weston but it's a really nice spot, nice view of Brean Down to the south and right back up to Weston seafront to the north. Rarely gets busy and has public loos nearby if you're there for the day.

If you Google 'Links Road', follow that right to the end to get to the beach car park.

Looks lovely, I think you have had by far the better weather. We've had storms & flooding down here.
We had brilliant weather for 14 out of 16 days Simon .
It was like being in the Mediterranean at some of the places we went to . Stunning beaches and sea .
