I got a lot of stick on the C&MH club site for leaving a review mentioning the noise from the cows, with that, the noise of the farmers dogs, the the smell of the cow s**t, the flies and the daytime constant ring of club hammers on rock pegs it wasn't the most relaxing of stays - it was a baking hot August bank holiday so the place was rammed. A pitch further from the cowshed would have been far better & the location was perfect as was the dog exercise field.

I have been a couple of times, but December and March, so no flies!, further away from the farm always a must, assuming there is a pitch.
I would tend to avoid sites in July and August, like to avoid the heat and school holidays.

Slapestone Villa, a Caravan and Motorhome Club CL near Penrith, right next to Rheged Visitor Centre. Lovely site and lovely owner. Bit of noise from the nearby A66, but a brilliant spot heading into the Lakes from the North.IMG_1933 (1).jpegIMG_1902 (1).jpeg
