Hi all

We’re en route from Barcelona to Zurich, and looking to stay this evening somewhere around Montpellier (give or take an hour).

There are the town-provided places, but often look a bit ugly and don’t have toilets.

I see vineyard options, which solves the ugly problem, but still no toilets.

Anyone any experience with nice places to stay?

Depends on what you want to do really once you’re there. We stayed in Sommières a few years ago on the Aire, however the Camping Le Garanel in the village gets good write ups on P4N and has all the facilities. The village is quite lovely and has a 2000 year old Roman bridge over the river IMG_4813_Original.jpeg

Try ‘pitchup.com’; used it a couple of times this summer in France, paid between £13-30p/night for a plot overlooking river or lake. You can normally specify plot location, hook up etc. You pay a small fee to pitchup to book, and then pay site owner direct upon arrival.

Also stayed within 20min drive of Dieppe on a fishing lake (as had an early ferry home), which avoided the recently reported issue of youths knocking on your van late at night….

Thanks both

After an hour or 2 of fruitless park4night searches, we settled for a 2 star bed and breakfast, 60 euros not bad, will save the camping experience for other times
