I have been having some very occasional issues with the T6.1 VW awning outer metal protective cover not always seating properly.
I had a little look and found 2 plastic clips inside the awning shell (van side) and couldn't for the life of me, figure out what these were for. Mine were pushed together at one side of the awning (they also slide way too easily). Anyway, I researched a bit and found an instruction manual from Thule for the 5102 awning describing how these clips should be positioned. After following the instructions, the problem seems to have cleared. Maybe other owners are not aware of the positioning of these clips
