I copied this from a post on face book by Bognor Motors :-

Reliably informed now by @Adamocean1989 that Cali's can still be ordered at the moment.

"Today, March 3rd 2023 l, marks a sad day - RIP to the VW Transporter as we know it.

Launched as the T5 when it first hit the market in 2003. Then face-lifted in 2010 to become the T5.1, which also brought in the Common rail TDI engines. This lasted 5 years until it was face-lifted again to bring out the T6, which also brought the Euro 6 engines with it. The T6 lasted until 2019 when the Transporter as we know it hit the market - The T6.1....

VW today closed the order books with no notice, as they have enough existing orders for the next 12 months or so, when the new T7 (or whatever they are calling it) will launched in conjunction with Ford."

Sad day today !

I did warn you........end of an era......probably

No mention on Calibord, so books may still be open on the Continent.

Lots of disappointed punters on Social Media. No warning, that's rough.

Ok some wrong info on the net, any idea for how long ?
sorry..

We have effectively closed factory orders for all Transporter T6.1 derivatives, excluding the California 6.1, from today (Friday 3 March).

so if anyone is thinking about ordering one id do it sooner rather then later.

As VW only announced this week the release of the California Surf on the 21st March so I’d imagine the California will continue to be sold for a while yet surely?

I ordered a 204 4Motion Kombi in Sept 21 and took delivery of it in November 22. A mate ordered a near identical 204 4motion Kombi in November 21 and has been told it’s currently BW 41 this year! Looks like he maybe waiting a year longer than I did!

All a bit strange!

For what it’s worth, we were in Breeze on Monday and James in sales said the wait time for Cali now fallen to 5 months. He also said most other derivatives had much longer waits. I asked him what follows next and he said the boss had a conference call with VW the week before and the next Cali will be on T7 in about 2 years. Maybe a longer overhang rather than long wheelbase but no details. And a Buzz camper will follow within 2 years. That’s what the man said anyway.

So the replacement will likely be the new transit with a VW badge and probably a T8?

It will be a vehicle with the same underpinnings and (possibly) different look and panels. No-one knows because only Ford have released pictures of their version with three engines - electric, hybrid & diesel. As to whether it will be called a T8, same, no-one knows yet.

The chance of VW giving that info away on a conf call "with the boss" is highly unlikely. I've been on these calls, they are highly secretive and very few people on them. I was on the Qashqai one as back in 2014 it was my job to manage the global launch. There will be a lot of he said, they said, the boss heard conversations in the coming months.
