As I started this thread, I can sum up my experiences as follows.
My van is a 2010 180BHP in pretty good condition. It had a new engine 5 years ago, less than 20K since.
If I sold it likely to maybe fetch 30K & a new one in the high spec of mine, I think about 70K. So worthwhile keeping mine in top notch condition. I have no intention of changing.
I had an Interval service, DSG Oil change, Cambelt & Water Pump change, new pads all round plus new rear discs. Pads were 90% worn on the front & 80% worn on the rear.
Independent garage quoted at £1517, VW Hereford £1534. I went with VW and my final bill was £1508. Plus had a courtesy vehicle overnight and first class and polite service from their man, Les. Cannot recommend highly enough.
While there they noticed a recall for the bottom edge of the pop top roof where it’s covered by the rubber seal. As I have corrosion etc, they could not treat it, but will arrange to pick up the van and have it into the body shop for rectification and treatment. I have no corrosion to the front panel.
