Only in London do under 18 get subsidised/free transport, same for 60 + "pensioners", Nearly everywhere else public transport is limited and expensive for all except perhaps pensioners over 65 on buses only.

I didn’t know that. How much do councils outside London charge for the school bus.

When I visited Devon as a child I paid half full fare on busses. I assumed this was pretty universal across the country and had no idea this policy had ended.

We first need to build an adequate cycling infrastructure.
Then we need to offer ebikes at a more affordable price point. I was checking some out the other day.
£4K for a semi electric push bike. Don’t get me wrong, it was brilliant. But I couldn’t get me head round the price.
If this cycle had been half the cost, I would have took it home.

Some employers buy bikes for employees, and the employee repays from gross, not net, pay.

My employer caps bikes at £1k...
Pretty much takes ebikes out of the equation. So short sighted.

But seriously, I see to many people who drive to our local shops which is a 10minute walk, 3 min bike ride but insist on sitting in traffic, paying for parking and clogging up the roads unnecessarily.

Until car ownership becomes more expensive and public transport and cycle infrastructure improves greatly, I can’t see an end to silly car journeys.

We desperately need to follow the route of the Dutch.

And allow mopeds on the cycle lanes?

There are plenty of e-bikes on sale for half the cost of this and less. I know that if you want a full suspension e-mountain bike that’s what you will likely pay, but do you want to be lifting a 20 - 30kg bike over stiles and fences? Stick to paths and roads and there are plenty for £1-2k, and self build kits can be obtained from £400 if you have a suitable donor bike.

All cycle lanes, or just those on the highway. I’m not sure I’d like to see a moped on a canal tow path cycle lane, or one through a park shared with pedestrians.

Watched this several times and still can't get my head around that road layout, looks like a roundabout within a roundabout. Anyway, it seems to be a difficult piece of road to negotiate and the driver may not be familiar with the area which is often the case for drivers of campers

It’s not the employer that’s short sighted but the scheme rules which put a £1k cap on the cost. Over £1k and a consumer credit licence is needed. These schemes are a great idea but in practice the rules are quite onerous for the employer to administer.
