Water pump

There will only be two wires, one will carry 12v the other will go to negative, or earth. Identify which is which.

Undo the wiring connector so the old pump can be removed. Then cut off the connector from the knackered pump wiring, leaving enough attached to the connector to connect the new pump to, say 6".

You will need to attach this connector to the new pump, you can use spade or bullet connectors obtainable from Halfords to do this. Personally I would solder them and cover with heat shrink, but not everyone is familiar with soldering. As a last resort to keep you going, you can twist the wires together and cover with insulation tape.

Make sure the wires are the right way round or the pump will go backwards! :D

When you get to the dealers, all he has to do is remove the cheap pump at the connector and replace it with the proper one. Then you have a spare!

Good luck!

I put another fuse in and tried freeing the impeller by. Turning it with small pliers a few times,it didn’t fee up and still doesn’t work,it’s off to vw Exeter tomorrow to get it sorted under warranty. Its a shame as the water tank is in mint condition and looks like it’s virtually unused

It’s being replaced under warranty ,it’s a shame as it looks like it has only been used once in 18 months, there was a drop of water in the tank when we got it but the tank looks brand new inside

Not uncommon in For Sale adverts - Never cooked in, water tank never used, 3,000 miles in 3 years etc:etc:.
Use it or Lose it.:thumb

or... the tap was left on and the pump ran for a long time without the cooling water around it and it seized up...
