Weird piece of metal fallen off...whats it for?

hi, must have been mentioned before but can't find on search.

3 seat Beach. Originally was attached to a flap of material on the back of the seat. About 4 foot long metal with originally about 10 little black clips on it.

Started falling apart from day 1...clips all vanished....metal finally fell off the material flap today. Tempted to bin it.

Any ideas what the flap/metal/clips were supposed to be for?

Sounds like the flap on the rear of the bench seat which covers the hinge area. It’s got little plastic clips which clip the flab back in place. I think it has a metal bar in it. Could be wrong. Picture would help.

Sorry, wife's gone off camping with the van & kids hence no pic.

Nelios that sounds exactly like what it is....god only know why it exists. Think ill leave it in the garage until next service/warranty claim.

The silver aluminium strip is to hold the seat fabric in place. If you have folded the back rest forward it will dislodge the trim and it would be hanging loose at the base of the seat back. You will be able to get the trim clips from a VW dealer
