You are going to have to spill the beans on the discount so others know what to ask for. Thanks! And don’t worry, we certainly did get a great deal
Have you ordered yet then?
So we’ve finally ordered our very first Cali today!!! If you’ve read most of the posts on this thread, you’ll understand why we’ve done that, despite the thread title.
So, being disappointed to start with hasn’t stopped us from our dream of buying a campervan. We had an unlucky first experience together with (too?) high expectations, but thanks to the fantastic people on here we gave it plenty of thought and now we are delighted to have put an order in for a well specced 199 4MO Ocean. We had considered all options, from forgetting it altogether, to keeping costs down and getting a Coast, to going for a top spec 4MO!! We went for that in the end as we got a very good deal and PCP that worked for us.
So once again, a massive thanks to everyone that has helped on here, we are definitely here to stay now!
Oh and a big shout out to Guy Vincent at Preston - did us the deal we wanted and was excellent to deal with. Our local dealers couldn’t help regarding any discount. Birmingham and Leicester, whilst helpful, we’re offering just 2% off. Coventry promised to get back to me by the end of the day 3 days ago but never did. We went to Liverpool on Monday after making an appointment. They didn’t seem particularly bothered and have not got back to us at all since then, 5 days ago. We were really surprised by this as we’d seen the California Chris videos and read good things about them. We were prepared to put an order in whilst there, but the PCP’s weren’t available on the systems until late the next day, so they said they’d email some details through to us - nothing has been received yet. Maybe I’m just old fashioned, but I thought I would have been treated differently, walking into a showroom ready to order a £70k vehicle.
But Guy at Preston was totally different and so got our order.

Unbelievable isn’t it?! In this day and age of communication too.Good work Phil! It’s quite amazing how some dealers don’t follow up with hot prospects. I’ve bought 2 Oceans from Liverpool and received great service, think it just depends who you deal with. Preston are part of the same dealer group so they’re getting the business anyway at the high level! We are interested in a Hymer Free. Made an appointment, spent a couple of hours looking, discussing availability and lead times and they were going to send on a full quote. No phone call, email, nothing!
Enjoy the wait and don’t start buying loads of stuff you don’t need!
Had a laugh at your last comment - already looking at bits and pieces
Thanks Jenny. Yes Mojave “Silver”How exciting - guess youve gone for the Mojave Beige too - same colour Coast I want - would you mind sharing your PCP deal - I got a quote at 2.8% which states it stands for 30 days but not sure it will as current rates are 3.5% - off to test drive at Loughton next week - rang Robinsons Norwich & they dont have any to test drive - rang Breeze & they dont either - I agree the service you get is vary variable when you consider what a lot of money you are spending - congratulations!
Thanks Jenny. Yes Mojave “Silver”
We went from that originally, to Indium, Red, White, then back to Mojave. At the dealers we’ve been to there were loads of grey and white ones about, but no Mojave ones, so it seems a bit more “exclusive”. Won’t show scratches as much as Indium too hopefully.
We got what is on the VWCV website - 3.6%, £1000 contribution. Not the greatest PCP ever but we were happy with the figures.
Subthree/Karlos - Initial discount was pretty much as good as what is available elsewhere with minimal searching

Discount; I got 19% on my T6.1 so I'm happy, but that was due to a written off T6 order. Would be good to share with other prospective buyers what sort of level dealers were, and were not, offering. Thanks Jenny. Yes Mojave “Silver”

No, it’s Mojave Silver like I said. B**** is not allowed to be mentioned, a bit like that other B wordGreat colour choice, but it's Mojave Beige not silver
10% near enoughDiscount; I got 19% on my T6.1 so I'm happy, but that was due to a written off T6 order. Would be good to share with other prospective buyers what sort of level dealers were, and were not, offering.
I am really quite annoyed with Liverpool. We travelled over 2 hours to go there and were ready to sign up there and then, but they didn’t give us any figures. They didn’t seem that bothered too. They said they would get back to me as soon as the PCP quotes were available in their system. That was 6 days ago and I’ve heard absolutely nothing since. The California Chris videos have been really helpful and he obviously knows his stuff and is passionate. We didn’t deal with him sadly. I do feel like emailing him though.Really pleased it’s worked out for you
No you’re not old fashioned expecting to be treated better spending that amount of money. Incidentally Liverpool is the nearest dealership to us and we had abysmal experience with them, obviously we never bought from them either.
Exactly, you can sleep, cook, wash and travel just the same, however I am envious of the table and chair storage in the rear door however (oh and the aircon!)Lots of "nice to have" improvements, but none essential for living.
I just want to check this - 19%?!Discount; I got 19% on my T6.1 so I'm happy, but that was due to a written off T6 order. Would be good to share with other prospective buyers what sort of level dealers were, and were not, offering.
Yep. It was originally one of the last T6 orders at about 17% discount. Our T6 hit a tree whilst on the top of the transporter between port and dealer. At that point T6 production had ceased. We had ordered a manual gearbox. So the replacement T6.1 was supplied with a dsg, about another £1.5k, and VW UK and Robinsons Norwich honoured the original deal. Result!I just want to check this - 19%?!
So what price are we talking with the 19% discount.. around £52kYep. It was originally one of the last T6 orders at about 17% discount. Wow, 19% must be a record in today’s Cali supply climate. Thought I’d done OK with about 10%. We’ll done.Discount; I got 19% on my T6.1 so I'm happy, but that was due to a written off T6 order. The order was placed in August 2019, van delivered July 2020, totally different market conditions.Wow, 19% must be a record in today’s Cali supply climate. Thought I’d done OK with about 10%. We’ll done.
List was about £69k, we paid around £56k.So what price are we talking with the 19% discount.. around £52k
