As an ex merchant marine officer I can only say WELL DONE! (also crossed the great ocean on the way to NZ, great journey!)

Old fashion way is trimming with ballast water and fuel (almost crude oil) in so called deep tanks. Nowadays they use also stabilization vins like cruise ships do to prevent passengers from getting too seasick ;-)).
Another part of the game is to avoid storms (deep low pressure areas) etc. by clever navigation although in current time the ETA is crucial.
 
Life can be harsh. After a long wait we get our hands on our Cali next week.
Then today I crashed my motorbike and broke 4 bones in my foot, needing surgery. Moon boot for at least six weeks. At least I can be chauffeured in style.
