Where do you get new tyres fitted (and don't say on the wheels).

Where do most members get new tyres fitted. I am in Worthing, West Sussex.

Some years ago I had Etyres come along and he damaged my wheels, he denied it, but a couple photos to the Etyres head office and he came and took them away for refurbishing.

I have been told by VW that it is not that easy and it takes two people to change the tyres, something about the raised alloy wheels...

Thank you.

I was just thinking this tonight.

To me its always a lottery in regards to tyres and fitment. I used Etyres recently as they are next to my offices and I cant use them anymore. They installed the wrong tyres on my Van, installed the right tyres on my Landrover but the wheel weights fell off and then the new employee over torqued the wheel nuts and forgot the wheel cap when he redid the balancing and charged me for the privilege . I had to cut the wheelnut covers off and replace with new wheel nuts.

When I bought my new wheels recently I had Tyres on Drive come to me. I fired a warning shot straight across the young guys bows, in a stern, friendly sort of military way, and I can say his works was faultless.

Avoid kwikfit they fitted the wrong load rated tyres for the previous owner of my cali and have refused to change them. Dispicable company

Not nice to see your baby taken and put on a ramp with the inevitable ' your tracking is out' .... shall we take another £ 00 off you while you are here? routine.

I use Merityre but no good for your area, sorry. It is a lottery. Avoid the Quick Nationals and the Fit Tyres R Us IMHO.
thank goodness it only comes around every 30'000 miles or so .....

Blackcircles or Asda Tyres.

Localish to you I normally get car tyres from Littlehampton Tyres but as yet not needed to get the van tyres replaced. When I do I will probably give them a call.

I fit my own but appreciate thats not an option.

What I will say is the biggest concern with a tyre change is where the vehicle is lifted, major damage can result and on alloy body vehicles usually a write off. I have seen it many times.

The raised spokes can clash with the sliding foot something I always check before starting however some machines are better than others at avoiding this.
Fitting Cali tyres is actually at the easy end of the scale due to the higher profile.

My recommendation is ask around who is the trusted local tyre guy as the franchise fitters are hit and miss and check where they intend to lift from

Also had trouble with quick fit. Have you tried an official complaint through their website? I had no success with the local depot but a complaint through their website got me an almost immediate refund. Still won't use them again through.

I used Black Circles last time. They had a 15% off offer on at the time. Chose ATS to fit them and saved nearly £200 compared to buying them direct from ATS.

I just use our local garage. Only one garage here. Used by the locals and the mechanics etc: live here. Been going for many, many years. Not a dedicated tyre fitters but got all the gear and look after and repair some interesting vehicles. Proper automotive mechanics/engineers, who take care.

VW main dealers (West Yorkshire). Competitive prices good service and they know what rating tyres to use and where to put the jack! You might be surprised; I was.

I’ve used Costco for years Pre Cali and always found them to be competitive on pricing, especially when they have cash back offers on.
The choice of tyres are limited to Michelin and Bridgestone.
The setup of their garage is clean and tidy, with informed staff who seem to care too. (Part of the Costco family)
I shall certainly be going there with my Cali when it’s due and will fit Cross Climates but this is a whole new topic around tyre choice.

ATS local centre. They always fit us in and go out of their way to help. We had a puncture a few weekends ago and they got us a new tyre the same day.
BTW don't drive 3 tonne Càli's down tracks with lots of flints which are razor sharp....
Next time we'll park at the end of the track and walk.

Just ordered a couple from BlackCircles and fit at our local garage that we've used over the years with servicing for other vehicles. 10% off Michelins (2 or more) at Black Circles today, offer comes up every once in a while and is a good saving on CrossClimates

Good morning,

The first tyre change is due now. I will get this done from my VW dealer. It is a bit more expensive, but thy know the van and know what tyres need to get on.

Regards,
Eberhard

Ask about there Warranty on New Tyres, I see they give a 36 month Warranty on tyres bought and fitted by Volkswagen main dealers on VW cars , It may also cover Californias as well.

Thank you everyone for your comments.

Food for thought.

I use black circles and get them sent to a local tyre place called “Wheel Power” who specialise in selling alloy wheels so they know how to fit tyres without damage.
