Wiring the Osram Copilot L+7 (basic question!)

I'm replacing the old (broken) flexi reading lamp with an Osram Copilot L+7, and had a query.

The new light has red and black wires, whereas the existing wires are brown and green. Can anyone please confirm how the wires should be connected to each other? Thanks.

VW use brown for Earth.
The battery negative is wired to Earth.
So Black to Brown
Red to Green.

Man thanks WG. That's why it doesn't work then!! I foolishly thought brown (live) to red (live). Doh!!

I had the same problem when I fitted mine some years ago. Won’t do any harm.
With a light using normal bulbs it doesn’t matter. With LED bulbs it does.
