Just wanted to see if anyone had the same as this. Took my T5.1 (2015 - done under 20k miles) into tyre specialist today and they pointed out wheel shudder when braking from low speed indicated worn wishbones/bushes.

I was obv. pretty surprised on a low mileage van and I'd not noticed when driving (I habitually ease off brakes as I stop), and front tyres have worn reasonably evenly. But when I watched the van being braked, the front wheels certainly do shimmy very noticeable at the moment of the stop. Tyre bloke said lots of this kind of thing...potholes, blah blah.

I took it straight round to our VWC centre. Technician there looked at it but assured me it was normal amount of play and they'd expect the same even on a brand new van, and suspension bushes last ages on T5/6s. He also said they get quite a few owners coming in after similar discussions at the tyre shop.

Anyone on here had similar??

Was this before or after they'd sold a new set of boots?

Ha, the words of a true cynic! Good question though. He said he wanted to be sure I didn't come back and complain the new tyres were wearing badly. I was waiting for the "...we could sort you out with new bushes for £xxx" but it never came. :D

(Actually, the tyres Black Circles had sent turned out to be the wrong ones (warehouse snafu) so I've re-sourced them from someone else. I'm about to fit Goodyear all-seasons at £140 a corner so they'd better be good!)

just had the same thing on my 11k miles T6 california. at vwcv at the moment to get the tracking checked. the amount of play is noticeable when the van drove onto the ramps at the tyre place. the master technician said it's because of "floating bushes".

This reassures me. Just had exactly the same comment from a local tyre shop when getting a couple of new CrossClimates fitted. Service due imminently and expecting to have to pay for brake work but hopefully not suspension work too.
