This is the latest in the line of tilting, folding boot bike racks from Thule. Looks like an EasyFold XT on steroids.

Hi, dose anyone know if it tilts far enough away from the tailgate to open it? Have tried the epos 2 and that doesn’t worK.
thanks

I also have a question about these, since I have two cars:
- a Land Rover Defender 90 (the old model)
- a California 6.1.

I need a bike rack that can be used on both.

On most bike racks, the vertical bar hinders in mounting it on my Defender, because of the spare wheel on the back door.

I do have a bike rack without the vertical part that fits the Defender (it's meant for three bikes but I can mount two bikes because of the spare wheel):

BUT: when mouning it on the California with the removable tow bar, I can't open the hatch: the knob for securing the rack is too high ....

So, from the look of it, the Thule Epos 3 might fit both, as appartently, it does not have the vertical part.

Can anyone confirm this ? Any other solutions ?

Thanks,
Stefan.

Epos 3 does not clear the tailgate tilted. Need to disconnect the limiter line and probably hold the bike rack while opening the gate. If you have no bikes on and the rack unfolded, the tailgate can open no problem.

Couple cm longer or lower towbar would solve the problem but could not yet find one.
