Is this normal?

I have been monitoring the oil level in my MY17 T6 Ocean and after 6000 miles it's slightly below the middle of the range of the dipstick. As a small oil bottle is supplied with the van, decided to put a little bit in.

I took off the oil filler cap and saw this. Looks like oil water emulsion, which is not good news? Oil in the dipstick looks completely normal

Certainly would get that checked, I have never seen anything like that in my 2015 but have on older vehicles and it was head gasket issues. Is there anything in the water too, in the water is when you really need to worry?

Either way its getting in there and shouldnt be.

Don't worry about it. Just a bit of condensation.

Use the van. Take it for a good run and it'll disappear.

Thanks. Water looks fine.

There is a post on here somewhere about the new T6 engines and condensation, SideP has already mentioned it I believe it is also in the manual ;-)

Normal on the T6. Has a long Oil Filler which doesn't get warm enough. There is a VW Technical Bulletin about it.
You could try some Foam Pipe Lagging around the Pipe if you want to get rid of it, but perfectly Normal.

See Technical Guide in VIP Download section

I think it would benefit from an Italian tune up!

Ton up in third gear I presume

Ha, that's the one! In all seriousness these engines are put in panel vans (and Golfs / Audis etc) and hammered up and down motorways. The Cali driving style is often somewhat different so think our Calis would all benefit from properly stretching their legs once in a while.

Yep I agree. I've recently taken to fairly conservative, at the moment, increasing of the revs by sticking mine in manual as cruising around in a DSG 204 hardly gets it above tick over. Early days and still very low mileage but as it runs in and if i don't feel it's getting pushed I shall adopt this tactic I little more aggressively. I'm of the use it or lose it school but don't want to have to drive at a ridiculous speed to use the upper revs. Time will tell, still learning about the Cali.

You could always try a few drag runs out of the M6 Toll barriers to give the whole DSG set up chance to loosen up!

Happens regularly on the 7 Bridge, especially if you have a Tag and the Merc that screamed past you in the 50 mph zone to get in front of you has to use the Pay Toll.:thumb :Stig

I do floor mine every now and again. Even my 150 DSG has a surprising turn of speed off the lights in sport mode. However I don't see the point most of the time
