can I change the KPH to MPH in the central dash display?
I've read my manual and Cali supplement over and over and still can't get it. Seem to have that 'step' removed on my stalk menu ... help!
I do go to Le Mans once a year so might be useful ...

You can change it , although it is useful for European trips, by changing the Language/Country to Australia.

If you get a Carista OBD2 dongle from Amazon (I bought recently mine for £9.99) you can do all sorts of changes to the MFD and other functions on the Cali.

To get the giant digital speedo in either mph or kmh you need to select Australia as the country then in the MFD select alternate display to allow the large digital speedo.

That’s what I’ve done on mine to give a large MPH display in the MFD. to be honest I rarely use it as I tend to set the ACC to keep to speed limits.

Useful link below to previous discussion on pooling resources.

NB: I’m still a beta tester for Carista and pay no licence. Happy to change settings for anyone at their own risk.

Alternative that I use is the display on my Tomtom or as I have a Nextbase 512 dashcam, that can be set to display your GPS speed. Advantage of these is seeing actual speed rather than Cali mechanical speed with a % error.

The Australian seeing gives you access to the Alt Display on MFD, and as the large speed display, however I failed to find a way of getting that to display kph, only mph.
I used the SatNav whilst in France as it also gives a clue to their speed limits, which seems to jump around, especially in built up areas, and don't have the repeating signs we have.

Agree with you on French speed limits. 30kph is rapidly becoming the normal in villages and town centres and can be hard to tell if still in it or not, passing French cars aren't a safe guide.
I never rely on Sat Nav for speed limit info as they are constantly changing and the Sat Nav updates can be months behind. Applies to UK & France. As you say can give a clue but best to treat as just that.

I have found the Waze app pretty reliable for French speed limits.

I think that is because in Europe you have the MPH and KPH speeds depending on which country you are in. In Australia that doesn't apply so MPH only.

Its called [ ] Digit. Speed on the MFD data settings screen and the "[ ] ALT Speed" in settings needs to be unselected. (once you are programmed to AUS of course.)

Am I right in thinking that you need Carista or the like to get Australia up in the list of Countrys?

Am I simply able to reconfigure the ststem to set auto lock on pull away if I buy a Carista box from Amazon. I’d like this facility and its a shame its not standard. Don’t like the idea the boot is unlocked whilst driving through towns with van load of stuff and don’t always remember to lock manually.

Yes. You download latest software and the rest is simple. I know as I contacted Carista and they updated my software to do this function.

Yes. There are two option. Method A or Method B. Auto lock method B worked for me. (2018 Ocean 150 DSG). Method A didn’t seem to do anything.

I may sound a bit nerdish, but does it invalidate any warranty and also how does it work? Are you effectively updating the vans software? Do you plug in and the MFD has more options or do you gave to download anything and do you need any licences to use?

I wouldnt say you are altering the software, you are changing the settings available on the vehicle over the OBD port. The vehicle software reads the settings given and configures the car according to those settings. Warrantly wise, I wouldnt know for sure but I doubt it as you are not altering anything of material revelance to the reliability or performance of the vehicle, just things like door locking on drive away etc. It doesnt allow you do to anything like change engine mapping etc as far I can can tell.

If you dont want to do it yourself or are concerned in any way then best to ask your dealer to do it for you.

You are only activating a function available on most VW Audi vehicles. You are neither updating or altering any function beyond normal operational uses. Auto lock is a normal action nowadays.
If you are not confident or technical maybe leave well alone.

Happy to have a go. Just unsure what I have to do. Hoping instructiocome in the box :thumb

Its not super technical.

Plug the dongle into the port (under the steering wheel), switch on the ignition launch the app, it finds the dongle (you may need to check your phone bluetooth is on etc). It reads the data from the car then presents the list of options available for your vehicle in plain english. Choose your option, update happens and bingo .... its all done. I set all door drive away locking, all car unlock when removing ignition key, giant MPH speedo in MFD option and winking eye on turn signal (temporarily turns off LED running lights on side you are indicating on)

It's super easy. If you get to set up and need assistance just ask. I and lots of others will be only too pleased to assist.:thumb:thumb

Final question. Do I need a licence or does it work straight out of the box? Elsewhere in the thread something about a licence was mentioned.
