Is the rotary control knob not a thermostat? They usually have them but I’ve found them to be pretty frustrating. I settled on a separate plug which was switched on or off by a remote thermostat, which you could take upstairs, so you could get it toasty before leaving your sleeping quarters.Only problem they haven’t got a thermostat.

That looks like an Ocean/SE do you not have a Diesel Heater? (Or is it for free heat when plugged in at a campsite)
Mine is the same as shown by @El Greco. My first one failed after 12 months but I moaned to the supplier who sent a freebie replacement. That sounds a good solution . Can you post some pictures of the thermostat and plug please . Rotary Knob is only on/off/1/2
Simply add a thermostatic plug to it and you are set.Yes we’ve got one of these . Have used it a lot . Great heater and very powerful for size . Only problem they haven’t got a thermostat.
Forgot the link!I saw these in Homebase last year and thought they looked like a possible solution to warm up the top bed area a bit on those icy nights (we don't have a topper, but are quite hardy and so long as it's not blowing a gale we prefer to sleep up top). I didn't buy one when I saw it because they were £25, but I see they are £13 now. They have a thermostat. Obviously you'd need to be on hook up for this to work, but it's little enough to sit up on the shelf above the cab and aim some warm air into your sleeping bag ...
Just a thought ...
How noisy is this heater? Can't normally stand listening to a fan heater switching on and off; at least the auxiliary heater is nice and quiet after the initial blast..Just wanted to share a few pictures of the new heater the club shop has in - I could see it was nice and compact with the dimensions online, but I'm over the moon with how it fits in the van. Plus it can be stored behind the passenger seat easily!
