Hi,

Does anybody have a recommendation for a campsite in the Wye Valley with access or close access to the river itself for launching a canoe?

Regards,

Many thanks for the tip. The pictures look very nice, although the bold rules on the home page somewhat off putting, but then I’m not an unruly type so nothing to worry about.

We had a long chat with the owner & the rules re:noise bond & all that were aimed at Hen do's/Stag do's.
For us, it was a very chilled stay.

Symonds Yat campsite, between Monmouth and Ross on Wye, also hay on wye.

look at campsite at https://tresseckcampsite.co.uk/ ticks all the boxes - there is a 20 mile river loop that is only 5 miles in the car - banks of Wye - pub end of track - very basic great friendly operator - cool spot but dont tell anyone

Some very helpful tips. Many thanks.

It’s good that they’ve recognised problems and put plans in place. Your holiday can be really spoiled by just a few unruly people. Hopefully the rules being so up front will put those people off booking and leave it nice and peaceful for the rest.

We stayed at Sterret’s Caravan Park a few weeks ago, as we’d booked kayaking down the Wye. As you drive through to the camper/tent pitches you pass some quite old looking statics. That opens into a great open camping space (with hook up) and almost new toilet block. Right by the river and the canoe/kayak rental places. Can recommend.
