Camping holidays set to return...

Isn’t that the beauty of the Cali?

We often stay local but I love loading it up, crossing the channel and getting on the AutoPeageStradaBahn for some Southern Euro action.

White Horse Hill ?
Have you tried The Pig Place bear Aynho?
Similar vibe but mush smaller, right on the canal.
Thanks for the suggestions Sidepod, not tried either, noted for the future.
We camped at Valley Farm Campsite, Oxford. Big field, proper toilets and showers, fire pit friendly , no where much to walk to, but Oxford nearby. Think it gets quite booked up though.
We're looking for sights as near to equidistant between us in Watford, and our son, ( '93 T4 California Freestyle owner like you ), in Chichester, without travelling on the M25. Not much scope there.

Are the Cotswolds within an hour for you...?
We have found a few nice places over the years in the Cotswolds.
One i still haven't tried yet but keeping meaning to do, is the campsite adjacent to Cotswold Zoo.
Probably my favourite zoo, as the grounds are so nice and great place for kids to see animals and enjoy a picnic and the park.

Just had an email from Comfort Insurance advising the following.

"The National Caravan Council (NCC), the industry body that represents the leisure vehicle industry in the UK is lobbying the government to reopen UK caravan parks as soon as it is safe to do so (private owners and then holidaymakers but without any access to facilities until is it safe) in line with proposals in England no later than 4 July."

Potty and loo tent at the ready?

This highlights what we've found over the last couple of years camping with our grandchildren. You don't have to drive to the other end of the country, getting stuck in traffic jams, taking loads of paraphernalia etc to have fun with kids, well and yourself. Pull down the blinds, get out the board games, put on some music, open a bottle of wine? You could be anywhere. The cosy feeling of being in a Cali takes some beating. Save Fuel, save the planet, have Cali fun!

The kids drink wine whilst playing board games

Good on ya, use the Cali how you want, not how others perceive to be the way it should be used.

If they don’t open the toilet facilities there’s going to be a smelly pile outside.
Can’t help thinking it would be cleaner to just use the toilets as normal?
Be a bit embarrassing squatting in public for 19 mins as well......never mind, if that’s what Cor-Vid 19 is who am I to argue?

We might find for campsites to open their facilities they would be breaking Gov guidance. We shall have to wait and see. As for the 19 mins squating in public? I won't be doing that just yet!!

Sounds as though camping dog owners will get lots of offers to take their pooch for an extra walk in the woods. There will be a shortage of those little plastic bags to hang in bushes.

Wow, that looks pretty good. Can’t have been open long?
There’s a nice one near Hampton Poyle but.......and it’s a fookin big but.......it’s alcohol free!!!! WTAF?

Why go to all the expense of buying a toilet tent just put some windshields in a square and you'll be fine remember no one can come near you well at least 2 m and even if they do they will soon realise what you're up to and run like hell :D

Hmmm...........I just think I would rather not have my constitutional in the pouring rain (typical UK summer weather, not what we are enjoying now!) with no roof and a loo tent just seems the logical conclusion. Probably just me really.......and at £25 (for the tent, got potty already) or less...

I like the idea of one of the positions of the bench seat having a flip up cushion with a toilet seat below. Do your business and empty the pull out drawer below.

How much do you suppose VW might be able to charge to have the “poop top” bench seat as an option?

At the speed you drive at (Greenwich to Spain in 24hrs) it would be all over the floor of the van.

Translation of an article published today in the French press:

The United Kingdom will impose fourteen days of isolation for travelers arriving from abroad.
France, which regretted the British decision, "stands ready to put in place a reciprocity measure as soon as the device actually enters into force," reacted the interior ministry.

Its all about No Deal not Coronavirus, creating a siege mentality, those rotten forriners etc.
