New T6.1 order delays

just got word that my van will be built week 30.... which is end of July? any idea what this means for potential delivery to my dealer/me getting my hands on it? should I be thinking late September to get the keys?
I think normal is around 3-4 weeks but in the current situation late-Sept is probably a reasonable assumption.

Conspiracy theory? I’ve read today that the new T7 has been seen out and about on test? If so they don’t hang about!!

Hi, could I ask what was the date you placed the order, thanks.

@subthree No there was no indication of actual delivery - guess there are several imponderables such as wait at Emden, backlog to clear Grimsby/Sheerness, transportation to dealer, and finally the latter’s ability to do PDI. As I’ve made no plans involving summer travels to be honest I’m not too bothered - as long as it comes eventually.

@oliver100 mines grey...so maybe even less work involved if they deliver it primed but not finished!
Dealer (Liverpool) confirmed today that ours which was ordered 7th March will be available for collection approximately mid august.

What’s your build status currently? Mine is 38 currently so sat in the docks waiting for a ship and ive been told it will be between 4 to 8 weeks to get my hands on it by a VW advisor the other day (also purchased through Liverpool)

Hi it was 20 - awaiting build - and I haven’t been told any different.

Mine is from Liverpool as well, original build week 20 but they said it was probably going to be week 29. When I checked with VW this week it was accepted by the factory, but no build week, so maybe it’s moving now. I’ll recheck with VW Monday. Thing is, if it is expected mid-August, is it worth pushing back to 1st September..

I don't want to be pessimistic and I may just be unlucky, but mine was actually built week 7 ie mid/end February and is still at status 30 ie parked somewhere between the factory and Emden. VW and my dealer tell me there is a large delivery backlog and it won't arrive in the UK until early to mid August !!! From a build week of 7 that doesn't auger well.....

Yes definitely push back to new reg date. For the sake of a week or two (hopefully) its a no brainier to get the new Reg.

First I’ve heard of that one. Another obstacle in the mix!

Leisure batteries !! Anyone who had their Calis built before lockdown and sitting in a muddy field in Germany for 3 months worried about the batteries ? I'm no expert but presume they have been flat for 3 months so wouldn't this be a problem ?

I wouldn’t worry about it to be honest, they may even ship with them disconnected. Plus if you have any problems it will soon be apparent and within the warranty period.

Just had an update for ours after using live chat. Original build week of 15, had it rescheduled to 25.

I checked the order and can see that your new California 6.1 has been built. The vehicle is currently at the Factory and is waiting to be transported to the exit port in Emden. We should further updates on this order by next week.

They also said expect 6-8 weeks for delivery, but getting conflicting information all over the place tbh

Week 25 was two weeks ago though.:. Mine rolled out of the factory then on the 17th and is in emden waiting for a boat!

Yeah they said the build takes around 2 weeks? Hopefully doesn't take too long :(

Today’s live chat update, mine has now moved to status 39 which I’m told means it’s on a ship... it will be going to the port of Tyne and from what I can see there are no boats from emden visiting their this week so I’m hoping it actually arrived on the City of Rotterdam yesterday and their system haven’t yet updated

It’s now in the UK and waiting on being transported to the dealer

Hopefully just another 2-3 weeks and it will be yours! Any trips planned? :thumb

fingers crossed! Think my wife has at the brickyards down near wells next sea at the end of august but I’m sure we will do a whole load of trips locally around the Peak District when it turns up :)

Great news, what build week was it ?
Week 14 originally but 25 when it finally got built

Wow mine was week 7 and still only at UK port....
When did it hit port? They only have 10 days to get it out of the door or they get fined from what I’m told. Mine arrived on the 4th

Mine was only last Sunday so still waiting.......and battling with my dealer over the VED, who still insists it's £1,850.....

It would have been the same ship as mine then, who is your dealer, Liverpool has sent the contract through and it reflects the cheaper VED rate in the overall cost and when I asked them they anticipated no issues with registering it. Even has a plate assigned on the contract so I’m not sure if they pre register them some how...

Yes it was the Malacca Highway, I unfortunately went through Marshalls Reading, beyond hopeless......hear nothing from them, have to chase all the time.

Ahh, mine went to the port of tyne so not the same ship but maybe they met during loading lol Hope you get it all sorted :thumb

I told them my van was at Sheerness, they have told me nothing they can do now until they receive it.....

I have been told they can start the registration process now, as it's in the country, but not according to them.
