I would be obliged if anyone would explain to me, how I instruct the Nav. system to avoid tolls.

Same thing happened to me yesterday and could not see anywhere to put in ‘avoid’ measures.

Thanks very much. Just have to get the media pro fixed now as it stopped totally working mid journey! So now no nav, radio, phone connection etc. Have to say not been impressed with the media pro system given the financial outlay with the vehicle. Thanks again for the info though, will remember when I get fixed!

We are 15 months into Ocean ownership infotainment system still not fixed despite numerous SW updates. Now waiting 2 months for complete new system to see if that fixes the problem. Currently in France and have found another interesting feature of the system it sometimes switches on fully dash as well in the night or the infotainment screen lights up but with no information!

I agree the Nav systems are complicated and unreliable, I had a similar problem to you twice.
I found this company to be incredibly good, speak to Hamid at:

In my opinion the Nav is the very worst feature on the vehicle. It’s awful.
I thought so too but persevered because I like the route appearing in the dash even whilst my daughter faffs with the radio etc.
I like it in the end, except the traffic assessment seems to be hit and miss. Sometimes it shows and suggests a re-route, sometimes it seems to have no data. It doesn’t seem to “helpfully” reset your settings as traffic data remains ticked…would love to be able to rely on that

I’ve reverted to the vans satnav when my phone struggles to get data for Google Maps or Waze. I’ve found it acceptable, and guess I should persist, but as I use different cars, Google/ Waze is my lazy preference.

Being dependent on an in built sat nav is filed alongside using betamax video cassettes today. Get rid, use Google maps etc with a phone. It updates traffic and routes for free every second.

Google etc offers offline services too. Plus Openstreetmap is now on android auto.

I rest my case.
I’ve worked this out now. When I used another key, it used a default setting in stealth mode. Traffic works well as long as I’m on my profile with its settings. Need to ensure the chap next to the globe doesn’t look like a spy with a hat and specs, but looks like this

One issue is a Google map won’t show in the digital dash.

Am I misunderstanding?
I can display the native VW Satnav, Google maps or Waze on the digital dash. The latter two via Apple Car Play.

Think I’m in the minority here but I really like the VW satnav! Hasn’t let us down yet and I don’t like my phone being tied up when driving…
Recently went to an address that neither VW Satnav nor Google could find!! Waze got me there :)

Now am I missing something?! You can't handle your phone when driving anyway. But if you plug it into the system you can use it all with your voice.

Not at all, I didn't say I was driving; I'm trying to read the forum in the passenger seat while the missus drives :)

Just reanimating this thread, has anyone figured out if there’s a way to stop the nav map appearing on the digital display when you set a new route on the main nav screen? I prefer to have the trip computer on the centre screen, but as soon as you start a new route it takes the liberty of switching the centre section to maps and you then have to annoyingly scroll though to get back to the trip option.

How are you managing this, can only get VW maps on the digital dash. Can get turning directions with Apple Maps.

Via CarPlay I get TomTom and other phone app navigation in the multifunction display, but on the digital dash (by which I mean behind steering wheel) I have only managed to get the VW maps. Perhaps I missed the correct procedure?

I understand the next version of Carplay may extend display possibilities on the digital dash when it comes out, but whether existing vehicle will be able to upgrade is unclear.

They (VW) need to get the current version stable IMHO.
