Hello
I am in the process of installing a Solar Panel. It’s the one supplied by Roger at Solar Camper solutions. I seem to have a cable that is not mentioned in the instructions. It is a thin blue cable with an inline fuse. Is this not needed. I have the curly lead going from solar to mppt controller and thick black lead going from mppt controller to leisure battery so whats the thin blue one. Is it earth and if so do i need to connect it. There is an earth connection on mppt controller but it’s not mentioned in instructions. Thank you for any help.

As @Perfectos suggests, check with Roger but did you ask for Starter Battery charging when ordering? If so, maybe it’s the cable that runs to the split charge relay under the passenger seat?

I have the Epever Dual battery Charge Controller and according to the description it charges the starter when the leisure batteries are full. I didn’t order an additional cable. There is a earthing point on the Charge controller but this was not mentioned in the installation instructions at all. My concern is does it need earthing and if so why No mention in the instructions.

Thanks for your help guys. Roger Donoghue kindly sent some instructions detailing exactly what was required to install the blue cable. As perfectos suggested it goes to the split relaymajig under the passenger seat to charge the starter battery. A bit more squirming around tomorrow and job done.

Thats it finished. I had a devil of a job getting the cable routed out of the cupboards to the bottom of the b pillar but managed to find a small hole at the right rear of the cupboard at the bottom and by firing my trusty torch through the hole a way was found to bring the cable out underneath the trim right at the bottom of the b pillar. Bingo.

I’m fairly sure that Roger pushed it under the wooden floor when he fitted mine?

It was easy until I got to the b pillar area. I still had the spade connector attached. I didn’t want to remove it because I was afraid I’d “bodge” refitting it. Quite chuffed now though and it seems to be working just fine. Worth it though especially the “starter” battery. I think keeping it with a good state of charge keeps it healthy.
