eu Passport Stamp

For God's sake, we can probably do without another debate on Brexit, but I have to ask, and this is a serious question, can anyone give a list of tangible benefits that we have acquired since leaving?
Yes, please do, someone - it would be reassuring. But I'm not holding my breath.
Well if you don't know then obviously no one else does, yet.

No, no-one else does, but if you, as a leaver, have some beneficial insight, why not share it?

You first, unless Developing the first Covid Vaccine in house, doesn’t strike you as one of the first benefits.

Cambridge ? It really doesn’t it describes it as an offensive term. A bit like using the N word.

As for your other two points you’re wrong there also, the 1950 Asylum treaty we signed up to made it all perfectly acceptable for the last 72 years.

Why do illiberal media use the terms illegals and migrant?
These words are not chosen at random they are chosen for their connotations, as a synonym for scoundrel, Low life, criminal. All so as gullible old people can be made to feel frightened about the existential threat to their existence.

Other words include Sovereignty, Woke, lefty liberal lawyer, federalism. None of them mean anything but all of them scare the life out of older people.
You must be very, very old then.

Why would this not have been possible if we'd still been part of the EU?

I found your Brexit benefit!

One third of British exporters have stopped exporting as they are no longer competitive in neighbouring countries.

It was all a con I’m afraid. Just the far right desperate for control pending the moons of god people.

Of course Covid had nothing to do with this.

As an aside-
I didn't realise that people can get a 'Golden Passport' with a little investment
in Malta.

How good.is that ? You don't even need a visa for the US of A if you have a Maltese
passport, Japan too.

Haha, not that 'little' an investment, but if you've bought a VW California, (the best but also a seriously expensive campervan) maybe £1.25 million might seem like a small amount

Have you read the article you posted in support of your own views?

“He explained that “the way HMRC collects data has changed since the UK left the EU, and comparing year-on-year data can lead to misinterpretation and factual inaccuracies, which we believe is the case here.”

“In this case not only has our caution been disregarded, but the analysis only takes into account a very small subsection of overarching trade data,” the spokesperson added.”

dont Let the truth get in the way of a good story. :thumb

this forum is not the place, to vent your political views & has nothing to do with the original thread title, take it over to face book pls guys
Good point. Have deleted all my previous posts on the matter .

But chose to leave a select few posts that you obviously feel still make your political point?
regardless of how tenuous they may be such as the 700+ Antidotal examples provided, siting hear say associated with gutter press headlines Which have no proper place or value on a forum dedicated to a vehicle.

And how is that a thread hijack in any way more than the purely political posts of the op @Amarillo other than you disagree

despite the thread title being “EU passport stamp”

650k € will secure it.

A great opportunity to acquire a sea view apartment overlooking the St Julians Promenade, enjoying breath-taking sea views from the front terrace which is large enough to entertain.

Although this one is 750k €

Just saying that for some people the possibility is there.

@WelshGas if you mention Brexit someone will put facts in front of you. You may or may not like them. As others have said you are well respected on this forum. Stick to what you know very well and the love will follow. Use Pejorative terms like ‘Remoaners’ and you’ll start conflicts.”
seems like your great at starting conflict
If you re-read my posts i haven’t mentioned the B or R word once.

WG hijacked the thread with talk of “illegals” you then hijacked it with discussion of the choice of posts’ deletion.

Now I’m drawn in to hijack by justifying my reaction to yours and WG’s hijack posts. (I’ve tried hard to stay out of political posts and self-appointed moderator posts unless in the off topic sections of the forum. When I fail in my attempts I appreciate a quiet reminder with a hijack emoji - that’s what it’s for).

If all people leaving the EU have to have their passports stamped, unless EU citizens or subject to Visa requirements, then what does that mean for those who don't fulfill those legal requirements?

@The Tall Luthier is right. You’d do well to listen rather than try to defend yourself.
The thread “hijack“ you refer to was my response at this thread becoming political, like you, I try to stay out of politics on here ( which you claim, but in fact is not true).

my quote in post #41 was a quote from The tall Luthier,

TTL chose to re read his posts and delete them without being prompted Or Hijacked, as they were indeed political and deliberately inflammatory, designed to wind up the OP fir his previous “xenophobic comments” that TTL took offense at, he then repeated my comments “gently take the Mickey” as a further gesture to wind it up.

my objection was that this thread had become political and “information “ was being posted to support those political views that clearly did not support that view with any facts.

you should take your own advise Amarillo and listen rather than try to justify your actions in this thread, marking an already politically ” Hijacked“ thread because someone complains that it has become political in A thread where political views were not part of the original posters intention was not helpful & does not add to the thread it merely hijacked it further. (Intentionally)

Well,

What an olde load of bollox....

I first "went abroad" courtesy of our nations military, in 1963, I went to America (USA). then to France (Cherbourg) then to Africa ( Kenya).

My passport was stamped each time. Big deal. I queued for about 5 minutes,

I was stomping over to France, Germany, Belgium, ..... and every other. country in the "EU" before we joined. NO PROBLEM.

Now, No problem.

What is this fuss about
?

Have travelled to European countries 4 times in the past couple of months; Greece, Switzerland and France twice. No problems being stamped in and out, very straightforward and no waiting in line either way. In fact the only issues I have encountered is the useless passport scanning machines on the way back in to the UK; they seem to fail to read around 1 in 2 passports going through and give up altogether regularly. Progress they are not.

I concur. In 2 years my passport is half full of stamps as I travel nearly 3 times a month around EU & US. I work for the company who provides the machines for new theraputic drug discovery. 70% of the BioNTech vaccine was discovered on the machine I look after.
Google, Surface Plasmon Resonance.
It’s a good read. And will put you to sleep ;)
I have no problem with passport control.
Apart from the once, when CPH didn’t stamp my passport and upon entering Sweden they made me wait an hour and wanted to know my life story and they called the customer to make sure I was who I said I was. They said make sure you get it stamped next time. Or you will have to go back to CPH and get passport stamped.

I have the same issue.
The border control finally fessed up and said just come to the control and not gates, as someone with the same name and year of birth is a wanted man. So I have to have a manual check every time I used a gate in the UK

I've used that tech in my lab. We had a Pharmacia BIAcore back in the day.
Aha, don’t say that swear word starting with B.
;)
Ours does 384 samples in 12 hours, not 8 in 4 weeks :cheers
