Hi All

Where I have been going in and out the Cali doing stuff it seems to have got really damp inside , looking for recommendations - I can see there are some really old posts but wondered if thesmaller mains powered ones are any good when you are on the EHU on the drive to keep the damp down

TIA

I use one of the small table top sized dehumidifiers and it works, in that it collects water but it is difficult to judge whether it’s making much difference to the overall humidity inside the van. I keep an eye out for them in charity shops!

I put a tray of cat litter on floor when van not in use. Change out every few weeks. Seems to work.

Dehumidifier is not necessary. Cali is not insulated between the body panels, so it’s a bit like putting a dehumidifier in your garden shed. It will just pull moisture from outside.

Just ensure van is well vented and free of any damp gear when parked up for long periods. Heko / VW window vents are good as allow you to leave a gap, but will
Prevent rain from entering.

Maybe but having a dehumidifier on low makes a huge difference. The meaco junior always scores very highly and has a hose outlet which can be fed out past the door seal or you can just use the tank. Used on mine and on our boat.

I have been using a Meaco DD8L desiccant dehumidifier for a number of years now. Did the research at the time but don't remember the ins/outs/options etc. It works brilliantly. I just use it when this just start feeling too damp, often takes a litre out overnight, then maybe one more night and that usually does it for a bit. Perhaps 5 sessions like that over the winter.

Is your Cali plugged in when running the dehumidifier ?

I am using the Meaco DD8L Junior in my GC600 and I have no humidity issues. The Campervan has to be plugged-in in order to have the Dehumidifier running.

I also have a meaco dd8l, the zambezi version. Never tried using it in the van but it dries clothes brilliantly at home in winter :)
