VW T6 Cali A Pillar Removal

Hi all,

Does anyone know if the blind comes off with the A pillar trim or does the trim detach from the blind and the blind remains in situ?

The blind comes off with the trim.

I'm sure they come off with the trim, see photo below you can see the blind is still in the plastic removed bit of trim..

Got to say I don’t remember that much coming off when I ran the dashcam wire down it but TBH I could be wrong. I have a vague recollection now after taking the handle off (and breaking it) I ended up just feeding the wire in.

Is it easy to remove and replace the trim?

I’m asking since my roller blinds are starting to fray badly on the connection between the fabric and fixed piece you pull out.
Does anyone know if you can get replacement rollers for the A pillar?

Mine have just been replaced under warranty. 2020 T6.1. Perhaps try a warranty claim first. Blinds are circa £240 each.

Do you have, by any chance, the part number of the blinds?

Sorry no. The dealer didn't give me any paperwork.

I’ve heard that the T6 A pillar removal is a nightmare, the blind comes off whereas the T6.1 is ok the blind stays on

Does anyone have pictures / video / guide of a T6 A Pillar removal?

The trim is the same for T6 and T6.1 the blind comes off with the trim on both. It is a cali thats shown at about 10 mins onwards on the linked video.

Having recently removed the A pillars on a T6 I don’t think they’re the same as a 6.1. On the T6 I think the blinds stay mounted to the A pillar (or they did on mine ) where as on the T6.1 the blind is mounted in the trim.

Hi,

So I removed the grab handle and black trim below the A-pillar (e.g. bit where the air bag switch is) as per many videos that are available which was straight forward. Be careful with the grab handle covers as they aren't that strong and easily snap but also easy enough to get a replacement.
Next I carefully started to pull out the A-pilar trim starting at the top and working my way down the rubber door seal.

Once the A-pillar trim has a little wiggle room carefully guide the blind handle through the trim.

Then insert a 45 degree trim tool as per the red arrows below and pry up the A-pillar in the direction of the green arrow.


You're looking to try and get it out of the 3 metal clips behind the trim.


Hope this helps. By no means is this the correct way of doing it as I just did it by trial and error so someone else might have more experince.

A bit fiddly feeding the blind back through but other than that it was pretty straightforward.
