Discovery Media - Aux input?

Trying to get to grips with the Infotainment in my T6.1!
Am i right in thinking that there Is no physical Aux input and any external source not using Android Auto/ Apple Airplay would need to be USB C compatible, and so my iPod Classic is a non starter?
I‘ve tried connecting via a USB to USB C adaptor but no joy. It works with a USB memory stick.

Our Coast has the bog standard unit, so I dumped my music onto an SD card. Is that a possibility at all?

No SD slot! Just USB C. I think I might have to just use a memory stick.

Apologies, I'm not familiar with the different types of head units. Ours has a SD which could easily be missed, as its not labelled and could easily be missed. Some of the memory sticks can be quite small and discreet these days. Hope you find a neat solution

Annoying, as I will end up listening to Radio 4 most of the time anyway! But having a large music collection it would be nice to be able to hear it.

California brochure mentions 32gb of storage on discover media. No way of transferring media and keeping it stored on the unit? Again, I'm just guessing!

We use Spotify via CarPlay for most of our music on the move in the Cali (t6.1). Library on an iPhone but it’s also fine streaming.

You can play music via the usb-c slots in the dash and it is slightly higher quality sound than streaming. The USB adapter might be the problem with your iPod Classic so you could try a 30pin Apple to usb-c connector to see if the system will recognise the iPod as a drive and play the .m4p music files. If not, you will need to export the .m4p files to a compatible device. Easiest by far would be if you had an iPhone you can transfer your music onto it via Apple Music? Or alternatively you could convert your apple .m4p files to mp3 format - there are various software solutions for that - and play them from an android phone or a suitable mp3 player. Or dump all the files onto a usb-c flash drive, the downside being navigation of your music, by album, artist, playlist etc may be much more difficult.

I did a test using a USB memory stick and USB C adapter and that works. Luckily all my iTunes music was ripped to MP3 and appears to be easy to access. I think I’m just going to have to get a large capacity memory stick. I need 80gb!

On the Discover Media yes but unless my recollection is wrong the RNS 510 had was HDD and SD …. Checking my Mac and I have a folder VW HDD, with about 16GB of music in it,

My RNS 510 also has Media In a USB socket in the Dash storage that you can plug in a USB stick or iPod/phone and play music off.

Had to ditch all my CDs when I switched. I liked to listen to a cd when there’s no dab signal.
I’ve got Spotify for free for 3mths then stuffed.

I bit the bullet a few years back and ripped all my CDs to “cd quality“ wav, for home and also to iTunes mp3 for in the car/van. So I’m currently copying the mp3 a usb stick……ready for a shakedown (first trip) week after next!
Probably be the forest so if you’re about, I’m sure we’ll have plenty of questions!!

After my IPod was stolen I bought additional memory for the phone and added all the music to that. I use MonkeyMedia on my Android phone for playback which can be launched under Android Auto and allows synching between phone, PC and NAS. If in the Apple ecosystem I'm sure that there must be an Itunes/iPhone/CarPlay solution.

To put it into context you’re trying to put an audio cassette into a CD Player. It’s possibly time to upgrade.

Hi - thought I would open this thread up after a long snooze (the thread, not me) and ask if anyone can assist with a media question. I have recently taken delivery of a T6.1 Beach and very happy with it and after getting used to working out everything and most importantly covering all angles of security, I am now looking for a good quality USB type C pen drive for playing music. Streaming is ok(ish) but doesn't give me the quality I am looking for. Can anyone recommend one they know that works in the T6.1, as I have had previous issues in other vehicles with NTFC / FAT 32 compatibility which has been a hit and miss game trying to find one that works?

Why not use your phone with Carplay or Android auto, using a wired connection to USB-c which gives best sound quality and charges it at the same time? I know this isnt the specific answer you are looking for but it is the best solution imho.

Another option is to use an sd card and pop it into the console sd card slot

I found that the FAT 32 / NTFC / EXFAT world is hit and miss with vehicle compatibility.
If anyone uses a pen drive make they know works, please let me know. Thanks.

Strange, I drive a T6.1 and regularly select music from our SD card - must depend on which console you select? We didn’t change the default console - see photo…
